Some Jews who have entered the Church make the case that Catholics are practicing post-Messianic Judaism and that their conversion is not really a “conversion” but an acceptance of the fullness of their Jewish faith and an entrance into the Church rather than a change of religious identity. While there is certainly room for discussion and debate about the merits of that argument, the bottom line is that Catholics are Catholic because Jesus Christ founded the Catholic Church and calls all men and women to follow him through his Church.
