If any religion will do… and there are many pathways to God, why do we need to be (or stay) Catholic?

The thoght occurs to me that if - for example - Hitler had spent his youth in pursuing Christ (spending time at the Real Presence, attendng Mass, working out his salvation with fear & trembling etc.) instead of Whatever all he was doing… Well…

Need i say more?

“The true religion is the universal religion; which is why Catholicism has adopted the only name which indicates the truth. Furthermore, this religion maintains orthodoxy in doctrine, the hierarchy of the powers, the efficacy of worship and the genuine magic of ceremonies. In other words it is typical and normal religion, the mother religion to which the Mosaic traditions and the ancient oracles of Hermes rightly belong.”

- Eliphas Levi, The Great Secret
you know, Hitler is an interesting case… He wanted to kill himself several times before he became Chancellor… If it had not been for the kindness of some of his women friends… things would have turned out differently…

i am not syaing they shouldn’t have tried to stop him but in addition to preventing him for ending it all, they also encouraged him to keep fighting for what he believed…A lot of those same people knew of his hatred for the Jews… so i wonder about all this… but anyway… if thye had just let him be by himself to work things out…instead of encouraging him in his political beliefs… well… He may have killed himself… but then he may have NOT… He may have (…considering that self-preservation is the 1st law of nature) chosen, instead, to turn to God…

Either way… millions of people would have lived…

and he may have found salvation… 😦

Very well, then. I shall continue to post quotes relevant to the thread.

*"We have stated elsewhere that the ancient rites have lost their efficacy since the advent of Christianity.

Catholic Christianity is in fact the legitimate daughter of Jesus, whom the magi adored. Catholic worship is nothing other than high magic referred to the laws of the hierarchy, which are indispensable to ensure that it is both reasonable and efficacious.

An ordinary scapular, worn by a true Christian, is a more invincible talisman than the ring and the pentacle of Solomon.

Jesus Christ, Son of God and Son of Man, so humble, said of Himself: ‘The Queen of Sheba came from the distant East to see and listen to Solomon, and a greater than Solomon is here.’

The Mass is the most prodigious of evocations.

Necromancers evoke the dead, sorcerers evoke the devil and tremble, but the Catholic priest does not tremble to evoke the Living God!

What are all the talismans of ancient science in comparison with the consecrated wafer?

Let Solomon’s skeleton sleep on in its tomb of rock, together with the ring he may have on his bony finger. Jesus Christ has risen from the dead, He lives. Take one of those silver rings as sold at the church porch, stamped with the image of the crucified and with ten rosary beads. If you are worthy to wear it, it will be more effective in your hands than the genuine ring of Solomon would be."*

What does this have to do with Hitler… 😃

yes, i suppose i am lapsing into childhood a little here… but hey, Jesus said we need to become like little children…🙂

Anyway… did you forget that Hitler was mentioned in the OP??

The point is: We need Catholicism to keep us from becoming…

an alter Hitler, as it were…

Once i got to thinking:

What would i have turned out like if i had not been raised Catholic…

I had this kind of reaction to that thought:

It is quite fitting for Catholic and Hitler to be in the same conversation; sadly.

what does that have to do with anything? 😃
One of the histories of the Western magical tradition (IIRC, The Morning of the Magicians) credits Levi as being the spiritual father of Hitler.

If TSuzuki was quoting Levi, because of the other connections…

Tsuzuki;:
If Crowley was anything like Eliphas Levi, he would have joined the Catholic Church.
Why? The Catholic Church had nothing to offer Crowley, just like it had nothing to offer Levi.

In your sustaining that this is nonsense, prove to everyone that there was NO correlation between Hitler and the Catholic church.
**I don’t need to. **
Your only point for bringing up Hitler is to antagonize because of your ardent anti-Catholicism.

If Hitler was a practicing Catholic as a child, he certainly was not a Catholic in good standing as he became the monster he ended up being.

Your insinuation that his being Catholic had something to do with his bizarre and perverted ideology is moronic - at best.

I could easily say that Dennis Rader, the notorious BTK Killer did so because he was an evangelical leader. Of course - that would be as stupid and juvenille as your assertion about Hitler.

Hitler was NOT Catholic in his adult year when he committed his atrocities. He converted to the Protestant faith. I am by no means saying this is why he did what he did, just simply stating facts that he decided not to stay Catholic for a reason.

this sounds like one of those things peoiple say to slam the Catholic Church when they either don’t know of anythin else… or have heard of other arguments, but don’t find them valid…

So…

which one is it???

i think you may be wasting your time. Anyone who even makes this kinds of childish statements… has probably already made up his mind to be antiCatholic no matter what…

i hope i am wrong…

a lot of Protestants seem to have a metal lockign door in their mind when it comes to Catholicism…

prove there is… for crying out loud…

Its not like Hitler was going to Mass daily for yrs and yrs… and at the same time killing the Jews…
