Why can women speak in church if St. Paul forbade it?

In 1 Corinthians 14:26-40 Paul writes many things. One thing he writes that confuses me is in verse 34-35. He says women should keep silent in the churches, for they are not allowed to speak.

If the bible is the inerrant Word of God, then why does the Church allow women to read or even sing? I’m confused by this. Is the current practice right and Paul wrong or vice versa?
