I am a cradle Catholic and have personally observed priests involved in what most would consider to be an “inapropriate” relationship with a woman. Several of such instances have recently made national headlines. I do not believe that it is my place to judge these men and women, for I am not without sin myself. But I also believe that God did not intend for man to live alone. Isn’t that why God created Eve, so Adam would have a companion? And weren’t priests given the option to marry as late as the eleventh century and the primary reason it was finally not allowed was more a financial issue, in other words, the Church didn’t want to share it’s wealth with the priest’s spouses and descendents and not one of morality? Please help me see this matter more clearly.
