The human will is frozen at death. Otherwise, there would be a constant flow into and out of both heaven and hell.

That is more a definition of hell than of heaven.

You need time to take any action. Repentance is an action. And time being physical, there is no time in death.

Why Can’t the Souls in Hell Repent
Because they made their final choice on earth and their fate is sealed the moment the soul separates from the body and exits what we call “time”. The state of a soul is eternally sealed once the soul enters eternity in union with God, or separated from God.

After death there is no human will and there is not time in death. Those who are in hell chose to be there. Once a soul enters hell, they are eternally separated from God.

I have often asked this question. I have never received an answer that is satisfactory. The whole system is designed by God, supposedly. He can design it however he wants. But instead of that being the answer, people always try to do a tap dance about free will, no existence of time in heaven or hell, etc,. It is a circular discussion at best.

It’s not that hard to understand, and no tap dancing is required. The body is finite and mortal while the soul is eternal and immortal. We sin through our body. When a man dies, his soul separates from his body in the state it is at the time of death, either in the state of grace with the destiny of heaven with all of the merits of its good deeds, or in the state of mortal sin, separated from God with all the consequences of its evil deeds in the abyss called hell. Thus Scripture describes:

he that is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is just, let him be justified still: and he that is holy, let him be sanctified still. Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to every man according to his works. I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end. Blessed are they that wash their robes in the blood of the Lamb: that they may have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city. Without are dogs, and sorcerers, and unchaste, and murderers, and servers of idols, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.” Rev. 22:11-15
