Why can't the wise and learned figure out Scripture?

Alan: I think Mercy was quoting a phrase in paragraph 294 of the Catechism. And, in the temporal sense is absolutely correct; that is as regards to time. But to see my point we must look beyond the temporal to a point which Paul makes, also in 1 Corinthians (3:22) where he points out that the the future (when God is all in all) is ours already in the present. That is because we are in Jesus and Jesus is in God; and God is timeless. Thus, His Will is perfected if we are in Him. He is in us from the beginning as it says in Genesis 2:7:

Thus, the very breath of God, that is, the Spirit of God gives us life. But let’s not get bogged down too deeply in this. Let’s just say “Glory to God in the highest! And on earth, peace and goodwill to man!” May God Bless Us All.
 
My dear brother Alan,

I am referring to the Christian theology that death has entered creation through the fall. When death is finally overcome, then God will be all in all. The apostle Paul explains the order in which this will take place. There are many other scriptures that speak of this, but one my favorites will proceed this quotation:

1 Corinthians 15:22-28
English Standard Version (ESV)

22 For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ. 24 Then comes the end, when he delivers the kingdom to God the Father after destroying every rule and every authority and power. 25 For he must reign until he has put all his enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy to be destroyed is death. 27 For “God[a] has put all things in subjection under his feet.” But when it says, “all things are put in subjection,” it is plain that he is excepted who put all things in subjection under him. 28 When all things are subjected to him, then the Son himself will also be subjected to him who put all things in subjection under him, that God may be all in all.

Romans 8:18-23
English Standard Version (ESV)

18 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. 19 For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. 20 For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope 21 that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. 22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in the pains of childbirth until now. 23 And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

Alan, all of creation is groaning, waiting for the bodily resurrection of the saints in our Lord Jesus Christ. When this happens, creation is one step away from death being permamently destroyed by our Lord Jesus Christ. One step away from our Lord Jesus Christ subjecting all of creation to the Father of all, that God the Father might be all in all.

Thank you for expanding on that. I think I’ll just reread your posts a few times rather than offer any thoughts at this point, because there really is a lot here to be chewed on by my Enquiring Mind which is distracting me such that I want it to get out the way! 😉
