Why cant women be priests?

I am a Catholic and am completely aware of the roles both nuns and priests play in the Church. Male clergy members have far more power and influence than females do. nuns are unable to do most of the things that priests can do. Women cannot be bishops or cardinals either. Women also cannot be the Pope which is a role of great importance and significance not only in our religion but throughout the world. As a woman I am deeply insulted by this and view it as another archaic form of sexism that goes against Christ’s teachings of love and equality.
