Why Catholic Millennials Need These Four Urgent Life Skills

I agree the blame game is not helpful. Sometimes children may really have had parents who were clueless about many life skills and so they are handicapped by lack of knowledge and experience. In the end, though, even if parents failed to teach basic life skills, at some point either before or after they enter adulthood, many will have to make the effort to learn those things on their own.
 
I actually think part of the shift is the change in many of the typical markers of adulthood. My generation marries later, even among those waiting for marriage. We’re expected to be in education well into our 20’s, often. Housing prices versus wages mean we rent rather than own. And we’ve had it hammered into our heads that it’s irresponsible to have kids unless you have the sort of stable, well-paying job that takes increasing longer to get. In short, we’re lacking in many of the things prior generations used to signify adulthood.
