Aw, i’m sorry. It really is a good program, It runs 6 weeks at a time and then you get some time off. I have learned alot. We are just about finished with this 1st book and our next one will be The Celebration of the Christian Mystery: Sacraments which will be 12 sessions, 6 sessions at a time.I wish. My parish can’t even get a decent evening Bible study class together. The DRE won’t participate and isn’t interested enough to respond to my e-mail when I inquired about alternative courses. What he didn’t realize is that I copied that pastor and he wants to know about the response I get from the DRE.
You wouldn’t happened to be in the DFW area?
The only info I have is the one on that link .I wish ours would do this as well. Do you have info on Why Catholic? that I could share with our parish?
i think it would especially helpful to parents of children currently in CCD…I know so many people didn’t really get solid Catholic education and they’d like to be able to share with their children but just don’t know how.
It’s ok No problem at all.somehow I missed your link in your first post. My apologizes.
I belong to a LOTW group at our church and we just finished Profession of Faith** and we are starting Christian Prayer** this week. I would highly recommend these books. Is your parish doing weekly classes called Why Catholic? We are in the 2nd session of this.

Our diocese strongly suggested that parishes participate in the program diocese wide. However since the diocese is not paying for it a parish can decide not to participate “because of the cost”, when it’s really because of the content, most liberal parishes will not participate. Is your parish doing weekly classes called Why Catholic? It is being used here in our Diocese, but some of the “traditional” parishes (my parish is seems to be pretty traditional, but there are some that think not) are not using it. There is a small controversy within my men’s prayer group over past materials of Renew International. Myself I’m in two groups in my parish that are using WC, one is my men’s prayer group and my wife and I are doing it together in another small group. One of the men in my Men’s Group referred me to this article from Catholic culture catholicculture.org/docs/doc_view.cfm?recnum=1267Our diocese strongly suggested that parishes participate in the program diocese wide. Renew 2000 allowed a leader to direct the focus in any direction they wanted. So it depended on who was leading it. That was the weakness of Renew 2000. It seems to me that Why Catholic? is rooted in the Catechism? Kind of hard to send it in another direction. It is being used here in our Diocese, but some of the “traditional” parishes (my parish is seems to be pretty traditional, but there are some that think not) are not using it. Personally I like the small group studies and enjoy the sessions so far and don’t see a problem with *Why Catholic?*Besides what I have read in the article about Renew International has anyone seen any problems with the Why Catholic? materials?
Yes, it is rooted in the Catechism. Although our talks might go off in another direction, they are brought back just by looking at the book.It seems to me that Why Catholic? is rooted in the Catechism? Kind of hard to send it in another direction.
Here are online versions of the CCCOur parish is participating in Why Catholic; however not everyone has a Catechism for reference and homework. Do the copyright laws apply to copying random paragraphs for use in catechesis or is it only against the law to copy the entire Catechism?
Thanks…
I am in the DFW area! I attend a parish in Plano, and we do have the Why Catholic? program going on. I’ve never actually attended, I know one of the sessions is on Wednesday night when I am teaching ccd, but I’d really like to start attending and am going to go like into the other times. I don’t know where in DFW you are located, but if you are near Plano, you might come and join us!You wouldn’t happened to be in the DFW area?
