I cannot imagine anything would separate me from the Catholic Faith.
Briefly: God exists. Jesus Christ is the Living Son of God. Christ cannot lie. We, imperfect humans, may not read enough, may misunderstand Christ, may wish to have things our way, but Christ is God. Children do not tell parents how to parent. We do tell Christ how to raise us up. Our choice is to try and follow Christ as best we can. Or limit Christ or exclude Him. There are consequences to our choice.
**Matthew 16: 15-19 ****He said to them, ****“But who do you say that I am?”Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.” Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood **has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Matthew 22: 36-40:****“Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?” He said to him**, “You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. **This is the greatest and the first commandment. ****The second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The whole law and the prophets depend on these two commandments.”
John 6: 51-56**“I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever; and the bread that I will give is my flesh for the life of the world.”****The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying, “How can this man give us [his] flesh to eat?” ****Jesus said to them, **“Amen, amen, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you do not have life within you. Whoever eatsmy flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him on the last day. **For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink. ****Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood remains in me and I in him. **
Luke 22: 19-20Then he took the bread, said the blessing, broke it, and gave it to them, saying, **“This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.”****And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, **“This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which will be shed for you.”
John 20: 19-23 On the evening of that first day of the week, when the doors were locked, where the disciples were, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, **“Peace be with you.”**When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord. [Jesus] said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.”
**John 14: 23-26***Jesus answered and said to him, “Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me. I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the holy Spirit that the Father will send in my name—he will teach you everything and remind you of all that * told you.” **
