Let’s say, for the sake of argument, I am an agnostic looking for truth. You’re given the opportunity to make your argument for not the proof of God, but that Catholicism is the one true religion. Not Hinduism, Buddhism, Islam, etc. Go.

Why Catholicism? Why not? 😉

In all seriousness, take a look at the Church that Jesus founded. He anointed St. Peter as his “rock”. If it’s good enough for Him, it’s good enough for me.

In my opinion, it depends on how you view Christ. Do you think He is the son of God? If you don’t, then your not a Christian. If you do, then we can talk about what church you belong in.

Jesus Christ of Nazareth…

You should study fulfilled prophecy and it’ll answer your question.

Just how “agnostic” are you saying you are duffy – for sake of the argument of course. 🙂
Are you looking to be convinced first that it was God who established the Chosen People and Old Covenant? - then, that the Old Testament Scriptures are true? - then, that Jesus is the promised Messiah and the Second Person of the Trinity who established a New Covenant? - then, that the New Testament Scriptures are true; then, that Jesus established a Church? ----- and then finally, that the Catholic Church is the Church He established???
Would probably be better to start a thread for each question.

Edit note: Realized my post might sound sarcastic :o. Didn’t mean it that way. I am just trying to get across that your challenge, as posed, covers too broad an area for anyone to respond in depth.

I’m going to have to say the Resurrection seals the deal. Did anyone else in any other religion conquer death?

I highly suggest reading “Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel. The author is protestant, but he gives us intelligent, reasonable proof that Jesus Christ is the Son of God using history and archeology. I would say start there. The first step is to know that the God of the Old and New Testament is the one true God, so that we can agree that Christianity and the Bible are true. As for Catholicism, I agree with what was said earlier, about Peter being the “rock” that the Church is built on.

Once you’ve decided that you believe in Christianity, then you can look at which denomination began Christianity, gave us the Bible, was founded by Jesus and started by the apostles and continues to proclaim one faith, one doctrine, one body of Christ. For me it is an easy choice. One Holy Catholic Church or one of 30,000 other denominations?

Check out this site and download, “One Church.”
