Given that biological life changes and adapts to change and that change is part of this life then biological life’s ability to adapt may be a necessary part of existence in a changing environment. However, why create a universe that changes to begin with? Why not create everything in a steady state condition?

Let’s say I make a car that gets 30 mpg. Now in real world testing and trials I find I can make the car better so that it gets 35 mpg. This would be a change for the better. But, change is inherent in the car and indeed every material thing. But, if I had infinite knowledge then couldn’t I make a car that was already perfect and didn’t require change? Let’s say I make a car that requires no fuel and is a perpetual motion machine for instance. If I can start with that, why would I bother making the 30 mpg car?

Change indicates growth to me, as well as opportunity. Don’t you suppose life would be awfully boring if everything was static. Maybe change is a crucial part of maintaining life.

Having everything in a static, unchanging condition is death.

I think in a round about way your discovering Evolution … because what your asking is why do things change to suit there Environment…
Cars made by Car Manufactures are Evolving every year ,and if they don’t make change, then another car Manufacturer that Does actually Create a better model will lead the market… Look at Hyundai as a Perfect example, a car made in South Korea , or even Honda.
they are now market leaders because they have proven to be Mechanical and Design Innovators… Plus there Labor force are paid well… whereas in Australia Ford and General Motors are Closing down there manufacturing operations …
they are closing down because they are not building cars that people want…
there not building cars that are as attractive or as fuel efficient as Foreign Built cars.

So thats Evolution of cars… the same goes for Humanity and the Animal world…
Why are Polar Bears only found around the Arctic ? and not in Yellowstone National Park? Where other Bears Thrive… it’s because Polar Bears have adapted to there Environment … Life , and the Universe are not static, everything changes.

However, why create a universe that changes to begin with? Why not create everything in a steady state condition?
The steady state condition is thermodynamically impossible. In stars, for example, matter is transformed, energy is released, and eventually all available energy has been extracted. A steady-state universe would require a continual supply of new matter (hydrogen) and removal of old matter (old burned-out dwarf stars, neutron stars, and black holes)… or a completely different set of physical laws!

There must be a good reason for why the universe is as it is. It is real. It is dangerous. It is hard to understand. It is a force that cannot be controlled by us and exacts real tolls on our lives. It kills and gives rise to life. It is a good question as to why God didn’t make it plain. Maybe it would be impossible to appreciate perfection without knowing imperfection. Maybe everything about our lives, including the real true death that looms, is designed this way because God wants to create perfect souls more than he wants to create perfect universes.

Hmm, I think what you are kind of asking, and I know this may sound strange at first, is why can God not create a clone of Himself? The answer is that such a scenario is logically impossible. For God to create another God would require that there be a limitation placed on both Gods such that they differ by this limitation, which contradicts God being limitless. Hence, anything that God chooses to create will have some limitation placed on its being. So instead of being pure Actuality (i.e. an unchanging Changer) as God is, the creation will have an admixture of actuality and potentiality which gives it the ability to change when these potentials are actualized. So you cannot have two entities that both have actually infinite beings.

Then the question is why cannot everything that is created just be in a steady state as you asked in the OP. I definitely think that such a universe is possible, but I think it is better that change is involved in creation because in a steady state everything just has fixed being. When change is involved it is now possible for a human for example to acquire an ever-increasing fullness of being. Although our being will never be actually infinite as it is in God’s case, it can be potentially infinite which is better than having a fixed finite level of being.

Does that answer your question?
