He DIDN’T. That was God’s freewill choice. he could have done it differently.

ALSO Christ passion and Death did not result in “salvation” per sae; rather “only” [not making lite of it] Redemption. Christ “Redeemed” EVERY man, woman and child ever born!
AND reopened access to heaven which had been closed due to Original Sin of Adam and Eve.

Christ made salvation POSSIBLE- Conditionally to those who actually Knew Him; Obeyed Him fully, and Glorified Him. That is why Christ choose One True God; who can and DOES have only His One True set of faith beliefs, through just the One Church [today’s Catholics] and did so following His Own OT Model of One God; One set of beliefs and One Chosen people.** Eph. 4:4-8**

God Bless you,
Patrick
Jesus Christ by enduring the horrible act of being murdered complying to his Father’s will has only perfected the Way the new type of man might be created.

Yeahhh, but why was death the payment for sin?
In Genesis, we read that Adam’s disobedience lead to the death of not only himself, but all his prodigy. Now, Jesus, the New Adam, through his obedience, (even unto death), leads us all to eternal life.

I assume you mean progeny.

First, Welcome to CAF!🙂

Could you explain please a bit further about what you mean to share? "What is a “new type of man?”

God Bless you,
Patrick

Glad to. ALL of the naturally born are not children of God Jn. 1:13. So then anyone who dares assert that just by natural descent he/she is one of God’s children; “ye are the children of your father the devil” Jn.8, is God’s retort. As Paul states “the natural comes first then the spiritual”. 1 Cor. 15:46. So then what is the process whereby the natural man might become the new type of man a man that is one with God? For any man who is in Christ is a new, an entirely new typification of mankind, a new creation. 1 Cor. 5:17
The crucifixion of Jesus Christ has only perfected the Way for the new type of man to become created by the power of God’s spirit. God’s process for that is predicated upon the naturally born’s faith of obeying a law that to him seems to be nonsense. With that said how about doing me a favor and read the Acts 2 message a few times and answer a question for me. What is the sin those people repented of, and it is not sins, but a single corporate sin? Do this and I’ll get back to you.

It has been pointed out by scholars that Christianity, as founded by Jesus, was focused on His teachings about loving God and loving your neighbor. These principles were the main original thrust of the religion.
But after His crucifixion, questions started to arise about whether He was divine, whether he was God, and whether he was born of a virgin. Many writings appeared asserting various qualities of Jesus that departed from Jesus’ main teachings. Thus Christianity was not so much about Jesus’ teachings, as about Jesus himself. Why practice the eucharist when it has noting to do with Jesus’ original teachings? How important is acceptance of the Trinity? What difference does it make in the long run? Drinking his blood and eating his flesh does nothing about loving your neighbors.

To avoid focusing on a human divine symbol, Muhammad emphasized that he was not divine, but only the messenger. Thus in Islam, praying to Allah is emphasized, not praying to Muhammad. Of course, he was never crucified. Too bad. He might have become divine in the minds of his followers.

If one views the work of Jesus Christ from a purely internet scholastic view, from a purely historically disassociated view, you will never understand it and never see how they all fit in together with each other as a whole precise and concise doctrine. You will only present limited reasoning with limited knowledge. What I call the 5 minute google doctor.

I once had a discussion with a man who seemed to know everything about God and what was wrong with Christianity. I asked him have you ever actually read the Bible? The answer was “no”.

As long as you focus on what is wrong with me, nothing debatable has been asserted. I am interested in points of argument, not what I need to do.

Well folks,

I’ve decided that the woman who posed the “Why did Christ have to Die” question to me will be given the info about the treaty with Abraham as a point of interest rather than as The Reason. She is an agnostic scientist who was part of a group of people (myself included) who attended a showing of the Chronicles of Narnia - the Witch and the Wardrobe - together. She mentioned that she had never gotten the need for the death of God. I still see great significance in that particular treaty pact, since it foreshadows Christ’s death to deliver all mankind.

Thanks - what a wonderful means of gaining other perspectives and (name removed by moderator)ut. I’m not an apologist, I’m sure you’ve seen by now, but I’m working on it.

The path we choose to take, needs to be traveled.

Thanks for bringing this up.

Most tend to forget Islam started as a heresy NOT as a new religion. We dismiss the power of error and its ability to destroy when we do. Heresiarchs never have Divine power although as is the case with Mohammed and Joseph Smith and few others, they try to convince others that they do.

Becoming a martyr is a very powerful way to attract attention. Also, Jesus had a chance to become a symbol, where before, he was almost unknown. In fact, if He had not been crucified, He might have remained unknown. It was after His story began to be written down in the Gospels that people far and wide learned of Him. He was not mentioned in Flavius Josephus’ work on the Jewish Wars. Later when the Gospels began to be circulated, he mentioned Jesus in his “Antiquities” work, no doubt because St. Mark or St. Matthew brought it to his attention or else their original sources did.
But what good is being a symbol if you’re dead? The teachings remained the same, they didnt pay off for His followers in an earthly sense either as they all died for believing.

What good does recognition do? Where is the material pay off in following His way and carrying the Cross?

What you assert makes no sense.

I heard that " there’s not much material pay off to being a Christian, but the retirement benefits are Out Of This World!"😃

And what even makes less sense to them is the fact that a law must be obeyed to prior to being declared righteous by God, if you really want to ruffle their feathers.
