Why did God create dinosaurs

You are absolutely correct. That’s how modern lab and field research scientists read it too. Those millions and billions of years needed for origins of life from a common ancestor just don’t exist.

C-14 dating of dinosaur bones to diamonds in the thousands of years confirms that the 65 to 225 millions of years for dinosaur habitation and diamonds (99% carbon) being up to 3 billion years old is a fairy tale.

One day future generations will look back at this time period and ask, How on earth did the people of that period believe in the fairy tale that said we have descended from a common ancestor?😉
Perhaps someday you can ask God why decided to be so powerful so as to take 15 billion years. Give or take a couple of billion. 🙂

I was trying to show that to believe in a God driven (rather than atheistic) gradual process is an accepted possibility by the Church. And that a Catholic in perfectly good standing can believe in that gradual process. 🙂
Good intentions. What you are saying has been accepted as a possibility by a number of Catholic individuals from Popes to this granny. Surprised? I have a year of posts devoted to this possibility in regard to Adam and Eve. My two threads were closed when the ban went into place.

The reason that Catholics can believe in theories of development is that these theories are in the scientific realm. However, when interpreters use evidence to deny Catholic doctrine, then the Church steps in by repeating what it teaches regarding faith and morals. Divine Revelation trumps. And scientific research needs to be reevaluated. (my area of interest)

However, the editors I worked for would not accept that intention because God is not explicit in section 63; only human factors centered on anatomy. Even the human factors of consciousness etc. are connected to the “development of the human brain”, i.e., the increasing brain size. Social and cultural are not exactly synonyms for the spiritual soul with powers of intellect and will.

Don’t give up. My guess is that because the complete title is * Communion and Stewardship: Human Persons Created in the Image of God,* there are better quotations.

Blessings,
granny

The quest for knowledge is worthy of the adventures of the journey.

Or perhaps we ourselves * will ask God how could people before His coming believe these things.*

Absolutely! It is the God driven process that can be accepted! I would never argue otherwise. 🙂

How is that a proof of the theory of gravity? God could have pushed the rock down. The rock could have sought its Aristotelian “natural place.” Your “proof” is no help.
Actually, if I think about it, we might have a gigantic magnet in the center of the earth that pulls us down.

But no, I’m joking. You are right. It is just a theory, but do you have another theory that actually makes sense?

How do we know that sometime in the future a scientists will take another look at this and come up with something better? Until then we accept this theory because it works well through the use of physics/calculus. That it what the idea or gradual process comes from. A theory that works very well.

This discussion is about dinosaurs. Did the original poster get an answer?

I’m not sure. I don’t think you answered mine. But then again it wasn’t the OP. Seems as thought we’ve both strayed from the OP. 🤷

Perhaps. Maybe someone will come with another theory, but I doubt he will be well accepted.

Philipp, I’m going to have to agree with Jozef Ratzinger, Pope Benedict, against you. But if you believe there is scientific merit to your arguments, and you want to make an impact, you really should take them to the academic world, rather than to these discussion threads. I’m a theologian, not a scientist; you need to make your case to working scientists.

How do you take such data to the academic world? Would you be so kind to so advise! In one of yoiur posts you say you work with scientists every day.

But you know very well that the censorship is complete and the atheists in the NCSE, I think it’s called, with the help of the ACLU make sure that if anyone even dares to teach anything but descent from a common ancestor or write a book against the Darwinian Sacred Cow they face the loss of their job and/or elimination of their career as several of my friends have suffered through in France and the USA.

Just maybe Pope Benedict is worried about his career ending suddenly? Do you suppose? There are billions of dollars riding on maintaining that Darwinian sacred cow as the only hypothesis of origins that you so heartily promote as a Catholic theolgian. Why is that?

Academia will not allow anyone on University campuses to speak to the students in a class room setting if they have any evidence against that sacred cow or the long ages that are needed to make it acceptable. I have that in writing from the former head of the geology department at a major University. Most of the time we can’t even get a student group to sponsor a meeting as facility advisors are also afraid. That’s the state of freedom in America.

So I have appealed to your good sense to challenge your coworkers to challenge other scientists to C-14 date dinosaur and fossil hominid bones and to pay attention . Are you up to the challenge?
🙂

I think gravity is a very good theory explaining why things attract, although it doesn’t seem to be consistent with quantum mechanics (evolution is consistent). I’ll leave it up to the physicists to work out consistency; no doubt gravity will have to be revised at some point.

So everyone from the NCSE is an atheist. When you make a claim like that you’re going to be asked to substantiate it.

Sorry…that borders on more than innocent ignorance

Care to name the major university. It’s easy to make claims. I spoke to God today and he said that making bunnies was a mistake. They eat to much grass.

I’ll be waiting for your answers.

Yes – dinosaurs were cool! And because God loves variety.
And He created us with incredibly inquisitive minds. God knew how important it would be for us to ever be trying solve the questions of the universe. He gave us more than we will ever be able to solve. And that’s what keeps are incredible desire for knowledge alive. 🙂

Why would they post the above on their web site? I don’t think they want to get a bad review by St. Peter when it is their time to pass on. Perhaps some day they might post the following as a compomise. It makes more sense as it is NOT a fairy tale; it seems to agree with the intent of Chirst, Lateran IV, the church fathers, scripture and the magisterium of the church teachings on our origin.🙂

“Since it has been demonstrated that all living organisms on Earth are genetically related, it is virtually certain that all living organisms have obviously been created AT ONCE by the One and the same Creator by variation in the DNA structure of each life form. [Simul in latin meaning “at once” in English, from Lateran IV, AD 1215]

Fr. Baker of Homiletic and Pastoral Review has an interesting review of the Book, EVOLUTION AND OTHER FAIRY TALES by Dr. Larry Azar of Iona College. Fr. Baker recommended reading this book in his review for its concise understanding of the evolutionary mantra, The Engine of Atheism. [July 2006 issue, page 72]. Frankly I wouldn’t be caught dead recommending what the “Bureau of Concensus” wrote as you do. Read the late Larry Azar’s book and I suspect you will learn why. And good luck!
I agree, great book. One thing for sure, we are all made of matter, that must be where our common ancestry comes from, now if we could just figure out who made that matter, we might be on the right track. God Bless, Memaw

I agree, HE must love variety, but HE is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE. SOOOOOO either it’s is true or it isn’t.

Also, HE gave us intelligence but I don’t think HE wants us to use it against what HE has revealed to us thru Divine Revelation and Sacred Scriptures and HIS Holy Church.
There are many mysteries we will never understand while using our limited intelligence here on earth. But I do have a lot of questions stored up ready to ask HIM when I get there. The first one being, “Where did my dear friend Ann disappear to 29 years ago.” Never a trace found, no purse, no coat, 20 degree weather. Maybe she’ll be waiting there for me. God Bless, Memaw
