You haven’t seen gravity, and yet I’ll bet you accept that theory. You haven’t seen quantum mechanics or relativity, and you you accept that theory. You haven’t seen plate tectonics, and yet you accept that theory. Why is evolution the only scientific theory you don’t accept?
Has any human being “seen” his/her own brain?
I talked about this before in this thread. Try not to get too literal with “seen”. For that matter, I haven’t “seen” 180 out of the 200 or so countries of the world. I haven’t “seen” 34 out of the 50 States of USA. There are things that most of us have not “seen” and will never “see” in our lives, but we believe other people that tell us they’ve seen them. Besides, we can see not only with our eyes, but with the eyes of reason, of heart, of faith.
Haiti, Chile and countless other places in the world feel the effect of the earth movement when plate tectonics release their energy. I live in an earthquake area, I have experienced them in my life.
I don’t accept the theory of evolution because I find many holes and unanswered questions in it. My eyes of reason make me question it. When I ask, I’m told that evolution doesn’t answer certain questions, or that other fields of science answer those questions, or I’m told “you really don’t understand evolution”. In its 150 years of existence, many well known evolution-scientists have resorted to fraud, deception, deceit, in order to demonstrate that evolution is a fact. If it’s a fact, if it’s so easy to demonstrate scientists have no need to falsify, fake and manipulate their findings. The Gospel teaches us the importance on truth in our lives, importance that should be observed by all in all fields of work. Why resort to lies? Is it because it isn’t that truthful after all?
I’ve put a lot of thought to this issue. I don’t reject it on theological or religious basis, although I can’t deny that some scientists will use evolution to attack religion, specially the Christian faith. As it has been said by you and other posters, many Catholic priests are scientists and evolutionists. But this doesn’t prove evolution.
To summarize, I have to say that evolution, to put it in lawyer’s terms, it’s all circumstantial evidence, which for the prosecution is more than enough, but for the defense is not enough. I’m not a lawyer, but circumstantial evidence is not good enough for me.
