Why did God create us with so much sorrow and pain in the world?

So many of us live lives burdened beyond measure, full of pain and sorrow. Why then did God create us to have such a difficult life?

Would it not have been better if we had not been born?

No.

The only mention of someone being better off not being born is reserved for Judas, and Sixtus has a thread on that topic.

For those of us whose lives feel like a never ending via crucis, with little joy, happiness fractured often and much sorrow and difficulty, then I wonder why God created me to live this Cross-filled life.

Why not create us to live a perfect, happy filled life? Why all this pain?😦

God did not create pain and sorrow. We did.

God loves us perfectly and unconditionally, but he set parameters. Through sin, which is a rejection of God’s love, sin and death were brought into the world. We are fallen creatures, and we have damaged our dignity. Unfortunately, the repurcussions from sin do not remain with the individual but affect us all.

But God in his abundant love, sent his only Son, Jesus, to overturn the sin of Adam, and in the Paschal mystery we find the answers.

I would actually encourage you to pick up JPII’s Apostolic Letter, Salvifici Doloros, for he answers your questions. Rather, he helps you to see how GOD answers those quesitons. In the Letter, he explaines how in the depths of our suffering, it is human nature to question it, and He expects us to answer those questions. But they cannot be answered apart from the cross.

In Jesus’ very life and death, he restored the dignity of the human person fully, and he actually elevated suffering and invited us to partake in it. In the Letter, the scriptural references are there and I even encourage you to follow the footnotes.

I actually had to write a paper on this topic (similar) this last semester, and by following the footnotes wth the scriptural references, my eyes were opened even wider.

So ask your questions, but go to the experts for the answers, go to prayer, and in silence, allow the Lord to answer you and show you suffering in the shadow and the glory of the Cross of Christ.

Unite your pain and suffering with Christ on the Cross and you will be given the ultimate joy.

Dont forget to pray without ceasing and tell Jesus you need help carrying your Cross.

Thanks.
I guess I’m just really sad at the way my life has developed and I’m weary carrying the Cross - after a while, it just becomes weary. Any happiness I have is usually short-lived and it feels as if it is snatched away.

Yeah, I’ve read Salvifi Doloris - its so amazing. I’m going to go and re-read it now.

Jesus, I trust in You.

Pope John Paul The Great, pray for us.

Yeah, I know what you mean, this is one of the reasons why I don’t want children. I can’t imagine them living in a world full of war, hate and pain.

Your child could be the first doctor to cure all cancer or AIDS.

We will never know, as you are living in fear.
