Why did God let the Muslims do that?

all of the above + sinful actions requires chastisement from God…like Isreal was chastised through the Chaldeans and Assyrians.

I wonder if the culture in those countries was like in europe today? Were they turning away from Christian principles and allowing abortion, etc?

For example, when God lets the West be wiped out by its enemies, it’ll be pretty obvious why.

The God of Israel did not punish the people – they did that to themselves. The God that Jesus reveals is a God of love who calls His children to follow him. The God of the Old Testament is the same God, a God who cannot change. The prophets interpreted events in light of how faithfully the people kept the teachings – and assumed that the problems that followed were “punishments” from God. You may recall that every time Jesus was asked if a person’s problems were due to his sins or his parents he replied: that it was not because of sin but, rather, that God’s works could be shown.

Also remember that Jesus told the cripple at the pool when he healed him, that he should go and sin no more lest something worse befall him. John 5:14

You must be of that brand of believers that hold no form of evil comes by the will of God. But you are wrong. God does permit evil, and in fact, often punishes men for their sins. God’s chastisements are always curative and cleansing, but they may seem evil at the time.

All good comes from God, even though to us, at the time, it may seem evil or punishing.

You are right of course that people punish themselves by their sins. But nevertheless, God does bring chastisement on the people of the Old Covenant as well as those of the New Covenant in this Last Age.

Do deny this truth would be the opposite extreme from that of the of the Apostles who thought ALL evil was a punishment. But saying NO evil is ever a punishment is just as wrong. 😉

But who is to say which is which? That’s not for us to judge necessarily, but we may and should take the hint. 🙂

The muslims took over so much of the areas that were Christian in the eastern half of Christendom. In the old testament, when the Jews worshipped false gods, God would let their enemies defeat them.

Did the Christians in Egypt, Palestine, Syria, Asia Minor, etc., do something wrong? Was this a punishment from God/ Or is there some other explanation?
No. It was the triumph of Evil, which, sadly, is a common theme in human history. Only God knows why, specifically. Ours is the mission to fight Evil.

Yes, so true. Thank you for an excellent comment. Short, sweet, and quite to the point. I, for one, appreciate it. 👍

it was a proximate evil, in the end, however, it will glorify God. Our lens is narrow on this side of eternity.
