Why did God make ugly people?

There is a societal stereotype of “beauty” that is almost wholly hereditary. I can get why some, lacking that heredity, seeing that God created heredity, would blame Him.

The catch is that the stereotype itself changes over time, so while God created the heredity, He did not create the definition of “beauty”.

My feet are fine, I just walk kind of funny. My niece was born with three holes in her heart, you can’t see them, but it’s a deformity. She is so sweet though. She has some other issues too. There is, at the local Melkite church, a boy that has down syndrome and is an altar server. A lot of people may find him “ugly”, but he was created for a reason. And he’s a dang good altar server too! If someone exists, they exist for a reason. God didn’t create mankind for nothing.
 
Not all of us have gifts that can be seen or appreciated by men. Sure beauty, brains, charisma, dominate this world.

I know that it changes…but it isn’t that radically different, if that makes sense?

Lazy eyes will never be in for example, even though the desired body type changes all the time.

Then there’s the question of why God made a person unattractive to a certain society, and then put them there?

As for that question…I recently had a revelation that God made me ugly as sin so that I enhance the beauty of his creation in everyone around me :rotfl: It’s my daily act of charity, I think

my sister used to say something along these lines when we were younger. funny because she didn’t realise the way guys look at her :rolleyes:

i don’t think you look that bad, girls are so hard on themselves

i don’t think god handpicks out your eyes or hair color…he lets genes do its thing. if it looks off, why do you think he cares? God does not care about how you look, hence it doesn’t matter. What matters to him is how you live your life! Plus he clearly doesn’t favour prettier girls over ugly ones. That would be him insulting himself? 🙂

attractive people have it easier, but so are smarter people, and so on. It’s not something worth dwelling on, your face/her face is not going to magically morph into Kim Kardashian if she thinks about ugliness 24/7. So to anyone who is insecure, just breathe out. Stop worrying. If you are worried about people thinking you are ugly, they are going to think you are ugly even if you cry about it or if you accept it. So save yourself from the anxiety 🙂

I remember when I was younger, it was easy to tell someones heritage, whether they were Irish, german, etc. ethnic features were fairly prominent with most people, but the more I notice today, that is not the case, all those ethnic features have been filtered down and diluted to the point of most people looking the same.

And to be honest, I have not seen that many younger people today that are truly ugly, its much less than it was back when I was in high school for sure.

Don’t worry, even those that are “knockout gorgeous” have their flaws.

As the President of Ugly People Of America, I resent your question. We are God’s children too and he made us in HIS image. So in essence you are calling God ugly and do you really want to go there?

a worldly view… not of God or of Jesus and thus irrelevant. disappointed in you.
 
I believe what we look like is genetics … God allows genetics … it’s as simple as that … that’s why some of us suffer more … our genetics give us diseases that others don’t get … it is how we handle these negatives that come our way through genetics that help bring us closer to God … I have been sick for 30 years … I don’t blame God … I see it as a special gift … I get to carry a cross throughout life … which, if I handle it appropriately, will ultimately help bring me closer to our Lord. Took me a long time to understand why God allows illness … but I have been able to accept my illness by understanding it in this way.

I also don’t care about physical beauty … I grew up very beautiful … until I was around 30 I was very beautiful … through the years the pain and deterioration from illness has caused my looks to change … I’m far from beautiful now … doesn’t matter … God loved me when I was younger and loves me now.

Lazy eyes can be corrected.

But come to think about it, the purpose of eyes is not to be pretty per se, but to see life. If God for whatever reason allows some human beings to be blind, or to have weak eyes, why should it be a faith issue that others have eyes that just aren’t so pretty?

What about ptosis :o

You are right in the sense that the function is important is always important. But I will say it’s pretty sad when almost every person talks about how the eyes are the favorite part of a person etc or ask if i was punched in the face!
 
Being foolish or naturally having a lower IQ is worse. Physical beauty fades. Almost everything coveted in this life will be completed forgetton in the next life.

How old are you? I highly doubt you are ugly as sin. Most women aren’t ugly. I think it is easier to find a lovely woman than man. Women are way harsher on their looks then men are. Seriously? If you are worried about finding a mate, most men are not handsome either. Not every man will end up with a supermodel. Most men are content with their wives I suppose. I cannot believe I am saying this but there is more to life than looks.

18, and I’m not European/american so I don’t fit the eurocentric beauty standards even if I am not deformed or anything (i bring this up because I realized people who say that a lot of young girls are pretty are usually american or european and that the idea of conventionally attractive is not that radically different, don’t mean to insult you or anything) 🙂

I think people like me and possibly op’s friend do not really want to look like a model, although that would be lovely. But rather we want to look plain at least? I don’t mind blending in by looking average 🤷

My situation is similar to Katherine’s.
I was considered very attractive by men when younger.Then when I turned around 32 my face sagged and changed dramatically due to certain illnesses affecting my elastin etc.
Even my eyelids drooped and changed shape to “ugly”.
“Icing on the cake” is I’m surrounded by a culture that has a huge habit of commenting/complimenting woman based on their looks like that’s the greatest “achievement” of woman kind and also many women of my background are really attractive.
I still struggle with the similar feelings like your friend and I’m probably much older than her.

I hope that God can use people’s suffering about their looks to somehow make a more positive change in what’s become often a beauty obsessed society which values people differently according to external appearances.

yeah…

although I just don’t see it happening anytime soon. beauty attracts :confused: hence it’ll always be valued and sought after
