Why, when their faith declares that Jesus was not and is not the Messiah?

As far as I’m aware, God has not revealed the specifics of how exactly He made that choice, and it is entirely possible that history has yet to reveal the fullness of that decision. Frankly, it could be anything from a complex decision we could never fathom to something as simple as, “They listened.”

I think the better question to consider is, why did He choose Abraham? We’ll get our answer for your question once we answer that one, I’d say.

Exactly. He chose them because He chose Abraham. Abraham was righteous and had faith in God. He listened to God and obeyed. He left his homeland and believed God’s promises. Through him all nations have been blessed.

It is because God choose them. He did not provide a reason. It is a given. Cut and dry.

Yes. And maybe he chose him because at the time other people were mostly idol worshippers, sun worshippers and the like, so maybe very few choices at the time.

I’m sure that’s probably true. He was living in a city known for its moon worship, I believe. All of the surrounding nations were idol worshippers. His belief in one, invisible God was bizarre to them.

I understand that Judaism began long before Jesus became Man.and uhat many Jews did accept Our Lord…Yet the faith does not recognize Him. Really I am interested in finding out what made Him choose them as the Chosen people. God bless you…

I agree, yet I could say what made Jesus choose Abraham…I am very interested in what you and others think, I have been bating it around for awhile so I thought I’d bring it here. God bless you

Maybe they were chosen because they most need God. Others were chosen later maybe because they werent doing too bad without revelation.

Why they were chosen is part of God’s mysterious design. We simply don’t know.
I’d suggest the book Salvation is From the Jews, written by a Jew who converted to Catholicism. It is excellent, well researched, and speculates on the role the Jewish race plays–and will play–in salvation history.
Worth noting, of course, that Jesus has been accepted by some and rejected by many since He walked the Earth. Some Jews accepted Him as the Messiah; many did not. Same story with all people today, Jew or Gentile.

Well put, thank you. I will read Mr. Schoeman’s book. I know it’s a no answer question, but the thoughts of people here is helpful. Very considerate to inform me of the book. God bless you.🦋🦋

I also wondered why God chose the Jews and left out all the Chinese and the Indian people. The Chinese and Indians are a wonderful people with an incredible culture and a fantastic cuisine. I will take Chinese and Indian food over the Jewish cuisine any day. In fact, a friend of mine who is a Jewish lady, says the same thing about Chinese and Indian food.

Their faith told them there would be a Messiah. When Christ came some Jews accepted Him as Messiah, others refused. It was not their faith that led them to reject Him; it was their lack of faith.

Specifically the Essenes were a sect of Judaism that was definitely Messianic. They wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls.

Well yes, I prefer Chinese and Indian cuisine to Jewish cuisine as well even though I am Jewish. But really, I don’t think cuisine was factored into the equation of choosing the Jews.

The answer possibly, as has been noted, is that the Jews responded whereas other cultures did not. I have heard it said that G-d offered the Law to other cultures FIRST and to the Jews LAST. Perhaps they were also most in need. And BTW, chosen doesn’t mean preferred by G-d but rather chosen to assume the responsibilities contained in the Law by both studying them and practicing them.

God chose them because they agreed to His plan.

Your question seems backwards. God chose the Jews 3ooo years before Jesus. Those who rejected Him were all looking forward to a Messiah - the just had different ideas of who that Messiah would be.

Romans 3 : 3 Then what advantage has the Jew? Or what is the value of circumcision? 2 Much in every way. To begin with, the Jews are entrusted with the oracles of God. 3 What if some were unfaithful? Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God? 4 By no means! Let God be true though every man be false…

The Jews that accepted Jesus as Messiah became Catholic.
