Why did Jesus have to be baptized if he was born without original sin?

I thought of this question as I was reflecting on the luminous mysteries this morning, and I am having a hard time finding an answer. I am interested in hearing both other people’s opinions and the church teachings on this matter.
 
To be an example for us to follow. The sacraments were all instituted by Christ, and so by being baptized he’s instituting baptism.

St Thomas says, “to give water its sanctifying power”. Also in order to accomplish the designs of the Father. And to give an example of humility.

Matthew 3

13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
 
Same reason He was circumcised and Mary purified in the Temple - neither was, strictly speaking, necessary for God incarnate nor for His sinless mother, but they were humble, devout and obedient in these points as many others, in order to be models of humility, devotion and obedience for us.
 
He baptized to sanctify tthe Jordan River, as well as to give us an example.

this is my opinion.

When we are baptized we are born again. When we are in the water. At that point we are in the Blessed Mother’s womb. She is the Font. She is our mother and Jesus is our Brother
 
As I recall. John’s Baptism was for the repentance of sin; not forgiveness. Jesus took our sins on Himself. Thus it was appropriate that He accept baptism by John to repent our sins for us.

So that no sola-fide, sola-Scriptura Protestant could come along 2000 years later and say that baptism isn’t necessary for salvation.
 
Simple to Fulfill the law of Moses.

The Book of Hebrews states that one of Jesus’ function was that of a priest , and according to Old testament law a priest had to undergo a “bath” before they could begin service. Had Jesus not have been baptized he would have broken this law of Moses and therefore been unable to be the sinless sacrifice.
