Why did Jesus pray?

I had a JW come to my door and ask me this question. I told her that I believe in the Trinity and she was quick to point out that Jesus prayed to God, so he couldn’t possibly be God if he communicated with Him in this way. In other words he would have no need to pray. Can someone please help me out?

Hi,

She doesn’t understand that Jesus has a human nature as well as a divine nature. In His human nature, it was appropriate for Him to pray as well as engaging in other human activities. In His divine nature, of course, it would not be.
