Always wondered why she saw him first after the resurrection

Clearly, this is because she was his wife. Right?

I’m pretty sure that anointing the body was common at the time.

I’m going to imagine that His mother was a little bit exhausted after having watched her son be tortured and die.

We are talking about Mary, not your average mother. Just sayin’

If I had been a friend of the family, I’d be worried about Christ’s Mother’s safety. One of His closest friends betrayed Him. They had no way to know if other arrests were planned. I would have insisted she stay secluded in safety at John’s house.

I would guess she knew exactly what her role was to be and arrest was not part of it.

Code:
The last shall be first, and the first last.

From the Virgin Mary's prayer in the Gospel of Saint Luke:
     Luke 1:51-53
51 He has shown strength with his arm,
he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts,
52 he has put down the mighty from their thrones,
   and exalted those of low degree;
53 he has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent empty away.

Did she? I mean Jesus knew His role but Mary was not omniscient

Because he loved her more. According to The Gospel of Mary Chapter 9:
4) He questioned them about the Savior: Did He really speak privately with a woman and not openly to us? Are we to turn about and all listen to her? Did He prefer her to us?
  1. Then Mary wept and said to Peter, My brother Peter, what do you think? Do you think that I have thought this up myself in my heart, or that I am lying about the Savior?
  2. Levi answered and said to Peter, Peter you have always been hot tempered.
  3. Now I see you contending against the woman like the adversaries.
  4. But if the Savior made her worthy, who are you indeed to reject her? Surely the Savior knows her very well.
  5. That is why He loved her more than us. Rather let us be ashamed and put on the perfect Man, and separate as He commanded us and preach the gospel, not laying down any other rule or other law beyond what the Savior said.
  6. And when they heard this they began to go forth to proclaim and to preach.

Because Christ loved His mother better than any of us can love OUR moms, I’d guess He spoke with her at length. Also, He placed her under John’s protection. It was a different time and different society. Mary did EXACTLY what she was supposed to do. She never did anything wrong. Her staying away that morning was the right thing.

I take it with a grain of salt but let’s not forget the apocryphal New Testament writings shouldn’t be cast out completely. Many of our traditions come from many of them or show what the early Church thought. With that said yes this one is Gnostic and not an orthodox apocryphal text.
