But why would god give laws governing slavery if it wasn’t wrong? Why not just say, slavery is wrong, no slavees no rules neede about slaves. We have made that decision in todays society why could god not tell people 2000 years ago?

But slavery wasn’t slavery like it is today.

When someone couldn’t pay off their debts, they would become what we know call “indentured servants”. Slavery wasn’t typically for life, and it wasn’t typically forced on someone against their will.

Also, slavery would come as a result of war. If you lost, you became a slave.

It wasn’t the forced servitude of all your family and your children and your children’s children.

I am interested to discuss this topic, however, according to post #12, it looks like the OP thinks that this would be a “hijacking” of the thread to talk about it. I thought this question would be relevant, since this teaching has apparently changed significantly. In any case, I am willing to discuss this topic on another thread, since the OP has said he doesn’t want us to discuss it here.
