Why did you choose that name?

My confirmation name is Martin de Porres. An amazing saint who levitated during prayer, could talk with animals, could heal, and bilocation. He was a lay Dominican janitor and barber. He also shares a feast day with my birthday so he was always my favorite saint growing up. I truly feel a deep connection with him.

I did consider chosing JPII but I didn’t. But I do have numerous popes and Saints I call upon daily, especially JPII

I can’t quite remember now. I debated between using my first name, which isn’t a saint name and my middle which is. We were told we didn’t have to change it for Confirmation if we didn’t want to.

Paul. My birthday is Jan. 25. That is the feast of the conversion of St. Paul. Also, my brother’s name is Paul. Two good reasons.

I chose Mary, Our Lady (Miryam), St. John the Beloved (Yochanan), and Mary of Bethany (Miryam). The Priest and my sponsor said I could have 3, though they looked at me sort of funny when I asked 🙂

My sponsor became concerned when I also chose the Hebrew forms of their names; she was worried about pronouncing them. She did great!😊

The reason for choosing Miryam, Our Lady, Yochanan the Beloved, and Miryam of Bethany is because they were all so intimate, as in close, with Jesus (Yeshua). That’s what my goal is, that is to be so close to our Beloved.

Combining these names with my given name makes for KAMMY.

Creative, I like it.

My parents were great friends - with a Fr. Mark.

He did my first communion celebration too - ( Old photos )

I loved him - as much as my very parents !
He’d come over to the house / great gatherings of adults -
As little seagull looked on 🙂

My big brother sponsored me, and his name is Patrick, a great saint’s name, so I got to honor both of them that way.

I chose St. Giles. He was a hermit. Basically, I am a hermit as well. I go to Walmart for groceries, doctor appointments and Mass. The only people I talk to on a regular basis are my wife and my mother. It seemed appropriate 🙂

St. Bernard of Clairvaux: Cistercian, mystic, doctor, confessor, preacher of the Second Crusade against the Infidels.

The Blessed Virgin Mary fed him with her own breastmilk. He certainly must be close to her in heaven!
