I asked the apologists this question, but have yet to get a response. It just hit me the other day that Jesus never did baptize anyone! Can anyone tell me why?
Thanks,
Gina

I think there are two answers for this.I asked the apologists this question, but have yet to get a response. It just hit me the other day that Jesus never did baptize anyone! Can anyone tell me why?

I would like to post a few scriptures. They are also from the gospel of John.I do not believe that Christ baptized anyone in water. I have several reasons, but no Scripture to back it up right now, so I will keep it to myself
Excuse my ingnorance, but what does being Levi and Judah have to do with it?Just to clarify, Jesus was both in the line of Judah and Levi.
Good question though. A lot isn’t recorded that we can speculate on. Christ submitted Himself to the Will of the Father and recieved the water baptism. This practice goes back to the Temple and Tabernacle practices with the bronze wash basin/laver.
I too like that passage from John, but its speaking after His ressurection, correct? I do not believe that Christ baptized anyone in water. I have several reasons, but no Scripture to back it up right now, so I will keep it to myself. Until then,
Peace.
Exactly!Sacramental baptism is a unites us with Jesus Christ through His Paschal Mystery. It is through His death and resurrection that we are gifted sacramental grace and a new life through Him… Jesus did not baptise because it is through His death and resurrection that we receive the sanctifying, sacramental grace of baptism and all the sacraments. He could not bestow sacramental baptism during His lifetime because these events had not yet occured.
