Confused, there are many non-Catholic Christians who do not believe that “Catholics go to hell.” Generally, evangelicals who lean toward fundamentalism tend to think this way. But many evangelicals do have issues with some doctrinal beliefs of the Catholic Church, which they regard as having veered over time from biblical truth. Catholic dogmas about Mary would be a one of those areas that Catholics and evangelicals would strongly disagree.

As for the whole issue of the Bible and God “writing it,” I think you are confusing “penning” the Bible with “inspiring” the men who penned it. God “wrote” the Bible in the sense that He inspired men to put His truth to paper. Yet it was men who actually wrote the words down. As 2 Tim. 3:16 states, “All scripture is God-breathed …”.
Yeah I understand where the differences occur. However my issue with 2 timothy 3:16 is that is the reason for the many different interpretations. Because if that I’ve been told God wrote the bible and gave it to man which isn’t true

You might want to verify this with a priest, but I’m pretty sure Catholicism gets the Assumption of Mary from Revelation 12. The child who will rule is Jesus and therefore the woman is Mary, who happens to be in heaven and clothed with the sun.
I can do that 😃

We don’t necessarily “get it” from Sacred Scripture but also from Sacred Tradition. We don’t believe in Scripture alone.
That’s why I believe tradition is so important and that’s why the catholic church is still together. It has what many non catholic churches don’t have. Tradition is very important!

Confused is correct in saying that the Catholic Church gave us the bible. Guided by the Holy Spirit the bishops of the Catholic Church recognized which books were inspired and which books were not.

Take a look at the Acts of the Apostles. Who wrote that book? If you believe Luke did then why? The bible doesn’t say that.* Acts* doesn’t say it is inspired.
The belief that Luke wrote Acts and it is inspired comes from the Catholic Church guided by the Holy Spirit into all Truth.
Thank you for clearing that up it does make sense 🙂

Confusedgirl,

Regarding the Assumption of our Blessed Mother: (2 Kings 2:11) And as they went on, walking and talking together, behold a fiery chariot, and fiery horses parted them both asunder: and Elias went up by a whirlwind into heaven.
If God Our Father, took Elijah straight to Heaven body and soul, how much More the Blessed Virgin Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ, being assumed into heaven body and soul. Amen Not all things/miracles are written in the New Testament, because the world would not be able to contain it. This is why Our Lord left His Church. This goes to show that God can do all things. Amen

Confusedgirl, Yes there is holy Scripture but What Jesus Christ left us is His Church He founded over 2000 years ago, Yes the Church that compiled the New Testament is the only Church that has the Authority to explain it to us, and the only Church we must adhere to. Amen

Confusedgirl, you are not so confused as you think you are.

Thank you ufamtobie 🙂 and I understand

I spend a lot of time with LCMS Lutherans. Most of them acknowledge that Catholics are Christians and that they will see me in heaven, but still think we are wrong about a lot of stuff.

I tell them we will both try to follow Jesus as best we can, and at least when we get to heaven, we will finally know the whole truth. 😃

I have attended a variety of Protestant churches growing up, and never heard that Catholics are going to Hell, unless the church was super fundamental.

We had a different problem – more like, there is no Hell, and an erosion of family values including pre-marital sex, divorce, abortion, etc. Church sort of existed to make everyone feel good – belonging to the church I grew up in was kind of a status symbol if you belonged and socialized with the “right” people. We didn’t hold our own members accountable for anything, let alone the Catholic faith.

Confused, there are many non-Catholic Christians who do not believe that “Catholics go to hell.”
And there are also a fair few within our own Church who still think that all non-Catholics (including all non-Catholic Christians) are going to Hell “outside the church there is no salvation” has been quoted to me on more than one occasion as evidence of this (despite the fact that our Church has since explained that this does not mean that all non-Catholics are doomed to Hell).

“Why do all the non catholic christians believe that catholics are going to burn in Hell?”

I don’t believe that. I see Catholics and Orthodox as my brothers and sisters in Christ. True that I prefer the Protestant tradition myself (in an Anglican via media kind of way), but I see all three branches as validly Christian, and IMO each of them has some theology more right than the others.

confusedgirl you are very wise beyond your years! I hope the Holy Spirit continues to fill you with the wisdom, courage and strength you need to seek the truth for yourself.

God Bless!

Much Peace!

Mike 🙂
👍👍👍

I concur

Richard Hooker even acknowledged that the Pope himself could be saved. This would have got Hooker into a lot of trouble at the time, but he was too wise and sensible to deny basic Christianity to the Roman Church.

If a protestant says to you such a hateful thing, just respond “are you the judge for the Lord? Who can be the judge of the Lord? He who condemns others will also be condemned” They have a Bible because of us.

I think because Christians see Catholics will go to hell for the idol worship of Mary and the Saints, the Pope.

Christians only worship Jesus, everyone else is not important

They also see Catholics as a sub division setup by Satan to confuse mankind from the true Gospel teachings.

Catholics are not going to hell unless they refuse Christ.

I think it is sheer scare tactics that are used to keep good Christians away from Christ’ Church.

Our educational level as a Church is very high. Why would we be dumb enough to worship idols.

Mary was assumed into heaven…I just heard the word, ‘assumption’ was used, because we do not know how she entered heaven, except she was God’s special creation, made with free will but not sin, and she chose God.

We can only ‘assume’ Mary’s assumption into heaven because she was sinless, for Jesus, and and the wages of sin is death.

Where is Mary’s tomb?

I know exactly what you mean!! I hate to say it but my Daughter was raised Catholic recieved all the sacraments and married in the Church with S-I-L’s ( methodist pastor) anyway they went to the CC for a while then went to his methodist church ( his parents also went there! ) Then that pastor left and she said her husband didn’t understand the CC so they went to the Lutheran church! She kinda fell in love with the pastor and can see no wrong in what he says , so now they are lutheran and of course all their friends go there! It hurts when she asks things like, if we celebrate Lent----She just rolls her eyes when I say anything… I just keep praying maybe she will see the Truth and come back!!
Bishop Fulton Sheen once said that “there aren’t 100 people in the world who truly hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they perceive to be the Catholic Church.” Ignorance of what the Church really teaches is probably the short answer to your question.

People trust what they have been told about the Church because the people who told them were preachers or good people who they knew didn’t deliberately say untrue things. It is hard to convince someone in that situation to trust what a stranger says or what they read in books or articles or blog posts when they place so much more trust in the people who they learned from. This is why we really need to be careful about “bearing false witness.”

This non-Catholic Christian does not believe Catholics are going to Hell. Catholics are my brothers and sisters in Christ and I have learned so much from them. 🙂

Peace and blessings to all Catholics and especially to Pope Francis,
Anna

My experience.

I’ve had the chance to go in differents evangelical/protestant churches, all pentecostal/charismatics. In the 1st one (Italian Assembly of God) the pastor
made me realize that if there were no churches of his domination, for him there was no Christian witness. Many brothers&sisters, they strongly believe that catholics are Mary’s (or saints worshippers, but sadly sometimes it’s true) and other things, but they can also can tell you: Sure, there will be catholics that will go in heaven. I know that sometimes there are also ecumenical meettings but only few protestant/pentecostal churches will be here.
There are also the sectarian ones: they will go all in hell, if you wanna save your soul run away from the papist/pagan/great-harlot church, this pentecostal brother sing in a catholic church and with his testimony he helps the catholic lapses to come back to the church: ANATHEMA! etcetera… Honestly I’m ashamed 😊 to tell you that some times ago I’d joined this line of thought.

In my experience I strongly believe that ignorance is absolutely the 1st reply to your question. I was ignorant (also if I’m a native catholic, but with Easter-Christmas relatives). I believed in many things I was taught in those pentecostal/charismatic churches.
Ignorance is powerful
