Why do Atheists always try to convince us there is no God?

And here I was thinking freedom of speech was one of our greatest rights.
Oh no, I’m all freedom of speech. What I’m not for is freedom to say whatever garbage you want. There’s a fine line between disagreeing with someone’s belief and outright broadcasting it by shoving it down other people’s throats (I cannot stress on how both fundamentalists and atheists fail at this).

Yes, but these are things we need to live with if we want freedom of speech. It wouldn’t make sense to have freedom of speech, yet have certain things that you can’t talk about.

It’s not really being shoved down your throat though. I mean if you don’t want to listen to those people, just don’t click on their videos.

Although things do seem to be going that way lately in USA at least.
I just believe that a line needs to be drawn. If we wanna debate about beliefs, let’s be civil and set a date, time, and place. You don’t go around the internet or on the streets attacking/harrassing anybody just because they have different beliefs than you all in the name of freedom of speech do you?

I think atheists react to the more irrational fundamentalists rather than Catholics in particular. Stories like this one make them shake their heads and try to apply reason to stop the damage being done from this type of nonsensical “magical thinking”.

Well they react to Catholic fanatics as well. When they see Catholics praying and claiming a miracle, outside of an office building, because the condensation in the glass window, resembles the Blessed Mother, they reject it, and quiet frankly, its an embarrassment to me as a Catholic as well.

Well usually the people who go around voicing their opinions like that are looking to start some sort of heated conflict. But they have the right to do that. Just as we have the right to ignore them.

Once a line is drawn, that opens the flood gates are all kinds of censorship.

But what results from such heated conflicts? Simply a pointless exchange of insults and verbal mud. All it does is cause distress and irritation for people. Nothing productive has ever come out of such ‘debates’.

P.S.

Hard to ignore atheist vids when they outnumber pro-religious ones. Go see for yourself. YouTube is not a friend of any religious person.

And I agree with you that nothing comes from such exchanges. But that doesn’t mean anyone should stop people from having these debates.

Like the great saying goes “I may disagree with what you say…But I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.”

Yeah, I’ve seen many of them. Although youtube has actually banned and censored many athiests on their website for speaking their opinion. Personally I find it disgusting that a site that’s meant to provide an outlet for people’s opinions, would begin to censor certain opinions.

So I’d actually say that Youtube is very friendly to the religious, and less friendly to athiests.

But either way, you don’t need to click on the athiest videos if you don’t like them.

All right, I’ll be open. Give me one good reason why these exchanges should not be prohibited? What is wrong with trying to prevent people from only hurting each other and causing more division?

I mean, “Why can’t we all just get along?”

Yet why is it that anti-atheist vids get such low ratings? Why is it that there are more atheists harrassing religious channels than other people harrassing the atheists?

I already have. To prohibit them from having these exchanges would be denying them their basic rights.

For an example of what can happen once someone begins prohibiting what people can say, just look at North Korea.

Somebody posts a religious song and it doesn’t take long for some atheist to post #$(@(@#$((@ comments. No one was even discussing religion. They just liked the song.

Yeah see, this is what I’m talking about. You make something that glorifies your religion, then you have these jerks lambasting you for a being a ‘delusional theist’ and posting video responses just to prove a point. Can’t you see that something’s wrong here?

That has to do with the people themselves. Although youtube is unfriendly to athiests, there are definitely more athiests than religious users.

As for ratings, it depends completely A) the content of in the video B) who is watching the video.

There are plenty of athiests on youtube who seem to look for religious videos just to put them down. I’m not sure why they’d waste their time to do that, but they do.

Those people are just idiots and jerks. If they want to waste their time spewing hate, than let them. You don’t need to pay them any mind.

The thing with Youtube, is that although it’s a great tool for the people to voice their opinions, it also seems to attract an incredible amount of morons.

Hateful comments aren’t just on religious videos, they’re on everything, literally every semi-popular video will have loads of hateful comments, no matter what the video is about.

Yet why is it that I notice more hateful comments on religious ones? Seriously, have you tried to measure the amount of hate certain religious and anti-religious vids have? It can tell you a lot about who the community is biased against.

I have a picture with a painting of Jesus at my office. One of my colleagues saw it but didn’t say anything about it, Instead he started sending me links(by windows messenger) to websites that “prove” there is no God or links to videos of comedians who bash faith. My reaction was asking why he sent me those links. He replied that he thought they were “interesting”.
I never sent him any link of a Catholic or religious website ever. What pleasure does he have sending me those links, knowing they might insult me. Normally he is a nice guy but when it comes to religion and expressing his Atheism, he is the opposite of nice.
He is just an example of many.

Most likely because religion has always generated a lot of backlash, it’s been constant since the beginning of recorded history, so why would it not be present on youtube?

Here’s some questions I’d like you to answer.

If we were to have laws to prohibit people from saying certain things, like you’re proposing, who would be in charge of it?

Who would decide what can and can’t be said?

How would we punish people for saying things that aren’t allowed?

How would people be monitored to make sure they’re not saying anything “wrong”

And how would the government deal with the backlash from people who actually like freedom?

It’s simple really. With regards to YouTube, I will merely apprehend anybody who comments on religious vids in this manner:

“You are a theist, therefore you must be a religoius @*#$&@!!”
“This is the 21st century and some people still believe in God? What a bunch of @##@!!!”

Honestly, it doesn’t take a genius to know that someone’s just looking for a fight.
