Seriously? In all my debates with them it all eventually comes down to them being more intelligent and me/believers being intellectually dishonest and stupid. And from there what can I possibly say? It’s like a brick wall. But since when was atheism the intellectual high ground? Was it Richard Dawkins with his way with words and his professorship that made every atheist believe they too were PhD’s and experts? Why is it that atheists all act like they know everything, but any Christian answer is immediately brushed off as stupid or (my favourite) “just something those peado’s told you to say”.
Occasionaly on campus I see these atheist cartoons that basically always say that Theists just ignore “knowledge” and “rational” thinking in favour of comfort etc.
What bugs me the most is that all this is just painfully obviously incorrect. Not only do Christians suffer pretty much the most because of their beliefs, but Atheists just have NO clue about the Christian faith and what it is to be Christian yet they think they do. I mean, probably 70% of Christians don’t know much about their faith, but all the claims atheists make are just so wildly incorrect that its like we are arguing about different things.
Most of the time, 80%, I have to say “No, in fact, christians believe this, not that”. At which point they claim intellectual high ground and tell me I am wrong and/or lying and/or “I was once Christian I should know”.
