Why do bad people win lottery?

Well, a few years ago, this family won the GA Lottery in my town.

Well the story goes: The Christmas before they won it, they couldn’t afford Christmas presents for their children, so they went to toys for tots to get some. They gave generously and their children had a good Christmas.

Then they won, the next Christmas came around. A Toys-for-tots representative came by to their house asking for a simple donation since they knew the trouble of not affording Christmas presents.

Well it turns out this family said, “I’m not participating in it this year.” I was like… :mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

So why do people like these win the lottery and abuse it.
 
I think you’re being very judgemental. People have a right to pray about and discern what charities they give their money to. Not donating to Toys for Tots does not make you a bad person!

Do you know how much they won? Do you know if they even still have enough to make donations? A common problem with a lot of big winners is they burn through the money quickly. There was a doco about lotto winners down here, and people who won millions were now bankrupt after only a few years.

And how do you know they’re not giving to other charities?

You can’t know what those people are doing with their money. Not giving to charity does not make someone bad. From the title of your thread I thought you were goign to tell a story about a rapist or an abortionist had won it?

Its their money. What they do with it is their concern. If tey use it unwisely they answer to God. Unless they’ve opened chain of abortion clinics or are running a gay “marriage” chapel out the back, I don’t think you have any business concerning yourself with them.
 
Some people are rewarded in this life, instead of being rewarded in the next.

If you could call it a reward to win the lottery when you do not know how to spend money virtuously.

To provide a specific answer to the question stated in the thread title, winning a lottery is based on pure luck and nothing else. “Good” or “bad” doesn’t enter into the equation.

Remarkable, just remarkable . . . my goodness.

Well, it is interesting though that one’s luck can change.

One year without, the next, very much with.

Still, that family is destined to be destitute again; I’m quite sure.

And that will be the saddest part yet, unless it draws them closer to Christ.

Presuming for a somewhat unlikely moment that these people *did *decline to make a donation out of pure ingratitude and ill-will, let us remember God, in His wisdom, often permits good things to happen to “bad” people and bad things to “good” people. We just have to recall that … in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. (Romans 8:28) 😃

Also, as the psalmist says: "Fret not yourself because of evildoers; be not envious of wrongdoers! For they will soon fade like the grass and wither like the green herb. 😉
 
I have little doubt that if I won some vast sum of money, I would spend very unwisely and foolishly.

People all around would likely think I a horrible person for not meeting their expectations of how best to spend the fortunes.

But I still would appreciate the opportunity to confirm all of this theory.
 
As the huge lottery drawing neared recently, there was an article in the local paper about lottery winners. Most find it gone within 5 years. Big winners are barraged by suddenly attentive relatives, ‘friends,’ charities, as well as being the target of many bogus lawsuits. Perhaps your local winners are selfish, or perhaps just jaded by now, or under the guidance of a financial adviser who’s helping them to be selective about charities. Perhaps they’d already given anonymously. Perhaps this whole story is a rumor. Try not to worry.
