Why do Catholics distrust Muslims?

Islam, Christianity and Judaism are all Abrahamic religions and therefore, for all intents and purposes, believe in the exact same God. Yet these groups choose to fight, argue and go to war with each other over the same God. The irony is downright hilarious.

I don’t distrust Muslims, not at all. They’re often more conservative than other groups which makes it easier to get along with them. In my experience I don’t find stereotypes about Muslims to be true.

You are being far too simplistic.

there are quite a few reasons not to trust them, there is also reason not to trust other people sometimes, but one that allows you to lie and allows you to die as a martyr to kill other people, now that is something i do not trust!

Jaka, finally can email you with plans, internet back up! woo hoo

Hehe… Yep I just sucked the blood out of mine 😛
Seriously though, why have kafir as a signature… To an Arab it sounds bad, Muslim or otherwise
Simply because I do not accept Muhammed as a prophet of God.

My parents were immigrants from Sicily, so they carried a mistrust of Muslims, and do my wife’s family (some are EOC from Eastern Europe).

I wouldn’t say most distrust “Muslims”, but they do Islamists.

which catholics don’t trust muslims?

I don’t trust most strangers, but not based on their real or perceived religion…
It wouldn’t be fair otherwise.

I distrust Muslims (among other reasons) because of 2 words - Sharia Law.

Watch Lybia for any further clarification required.

Um. I don’t know if you can really use that as an excuse or explanation…
Perhaps you can approach it using the Socratic method:

“Is there a Spanish Inquisition if there is no Islamic conquest of Southern Spain?”

Or this one:

“Do the Crusades occur if there is no Islamic conquest of the Levant?”

People might be quick to point out the Crusades, or Inquisition, but probably couldn’t tell you what the devşirme system is.

This thread will be gone soon. I can’t believe it has been up this long as the last one I spent time on posting a legit answer to a seemingly legit question about Muslim’s not believing in Christ’s Divinity was pulled. Makes me want to stop posting. I have already ignored the multitude of requests for further monetary support of this forum. Read quickly… it will be gone soon!

Did you mean to lump ALL Muslims in together?
I don’t know all muslims but I do know islam and I choose not to trust the adherants until I have a good reason. I don’t know all the inmates in the prison at Pelican Bay ,California either but for safety, they must all be lumped together. 🤷

Generally the posts have been more than civil, which it is why it survives. There have been some good posts too
I would recommend an article entitled Themes in Muslim-Christian Encounters in the journal islam and Muslim-Christian relations. It’s attached to Birmingham University UK and I think a sub division of Routledge publish it. Has a really good section on the in Incarnation, very insightful
