Thought I’d pass this on to see what you guys think (see link below ‘Why do Catholics have a Pope?’. I actually enjoy the different perspective but am disheartened by the hateful comments left by those who clearly do not nor are willing to try to understand the Catholic Church.

**Opening paragraph of the article:**Pope: From the Greek word papas, a term of endearment meaning “papa” or “daddy.” With the recent, historic visit of Pope Benedict XVI to the U.S., many Christians may be wondering what exactly Catholics believe about the robed figure with the German accent and his line of predecessors. Why do Catholics have a Pope? Do Catholics worship him? Is his authority political, spiritual, or is he just a figurehead?

Here’s another article that you may have seen a few years ago (it was discussed on this forum). I have heard from several reliable sources that the article led to the author being rejected for a job at Wheaton College, but he wound up at Marquette instead!

Hey guys - I know this is an old thread, but I just stumbled across it. I want to set the record straight since I’ve come across this error on several other websites now. The publication, Crosswalk.com, is an evangelical Protestant website, but the author of the article is actually a practicing Catholic. Check this correction out at Ignatius Insight:
