My cousin loved the ā€œThree Stoogesā€ I never did.

But I love Abbott and Costello (as I mentioned previously in the thread)

Here is a clip from their TV program I believe.

Mr. Bacciagalupe is hillarious with his lack of patience and Italian mumblings with Lou.

My kids, even the littlest, love it. Maybe because I’ve known ā€œMr. Bacciagalupeā€ types.

First the dialogue is funny, then the slapstick over the shoes, and at the end.

Because they’re awesome.
Soytinlee!!!

I like the Stooges, especially when I was a kid. I have seen those shows so many times I know most of the dialog by heart…granted there wasn’t that much, and it wasn’t all that complicated either. I still like them, but there are other shows that I would rather watch now.

"Why I oughtta…!" 😃

It seems to be such a guy thing. I don’t know any women who like them.
You may be right. My dad loves them an dI don’t know any women who like them either. I once told my dad that I hated them because there was no point to the shows. He said that was the point.

Its just so unrealistic, dumb, and presented in such a silly manner that is is hilarious. The movie Home Alone has a lot of slapstick comedy however I found it a bit gross. Most likely because it was presented in more of a realistic manner, not as completely absurd as what the 3 Stooges do.

The Stooges represent a simpler time and a universal form of humor. You can watch the Stooges without the sound on and still understand the humor. It is one of the most classic forms of comedy. Think Mr. Bean or some of Red Skelton’s routines. Another thing to note is that Curly, along with Oliver Hardy of Laurel and Hardy, was an incredible singer. He had a voice that was angelic. Unfortunately he is better known as the loveable knucklehead Curly. And if I recall correctly, Larry Fine (he wasn’t related to the others) was a magician or in another act at one time.

Larry was the most versatile of the Stooges. He played the violin as well as other instruments.

I’m a woman, and I have loved the Three Stooges since I was a little girl! We have a picture of them up in our family room. I love the interaction between the three of them, especially Moe, Larry, and Curly. I’m not a huge Shemp fan, but he’s OK. I definitely didn’t like Joe Besser. Joe DeRita was OK.
ditto to the above! i used to have a picture of them on the wall too, but it’s been packed up for some time now. will have to bust that out again once i get settled. 😃

I’ve never liked the Stooges.
OTOH, women have no sense of humor so they are not a reliable source as to what’s funny or not.

You’re just looking for trouble, aren’t you? šŸ˜›

For some reason I never found them that funny, maybe because I grew up watching the Marx Bros. with my dad. Their style was more word play and less slapstick.

My kids are finding the Stooges quite funny, but we’re all in agreement about the Marx Bros.

The slapstick humor and outrageous blunders that go on within the show are what originally attracted me to it.
