Testosterone poisoning. (And yes, I’m a victim. Nyuk! Nyuk!)

I hate them!

Maybe 'cos I’m not American? I dunno. I just find them annoying.
Well this American dude agrees for what it’s worth.
Oh please, I’m Filipino and I’ve got a female coworker who laughed when I showed her the upcoming Three Stooges movie. This same trailer was also introduced to me via my sister. XD

And yes, I too suffer from an internal stooge… one that I wish I could just pull out of my head and slap to my heart’s content instead of myself whenever I do something stupid.:o

“Why do men like the Three Stooges?”

Because they’re awesome.

I’m a gal who loves the Stooges. If I have to have a fave, it’s Shemp.

My grandmother’s favorite film is Dumb and Dumber and we crack up every time we see it. The kids and I also love Abbott and Costello. 😃

Because they really ARE stooges?

😃

It’s that little boy that never got past wanting to poke someone in the eye and get away with it. It lives on in every man.

It seems to be such a guy thing. I don’t know any women who like them.
It is a guy thing.

If you pay close attention to men who are friends, they will often insult each other, which is the ultimate statement of affection from one guy to another. We like confrontational humor. I figure it must have something to do with the testosterone.

Besides all that: the Stooges are simply awesome!

The better question is: how can women and girls NOT love the Stooges?

LOL 🙂

A definite classic!! How about “There’s Something About Mary”?
“There’s Something about Mary” is hysterical.

“Dumb & Dumber,” not so much, although my husband can quote great swaths of that movie verbatim. For some reason it just tickles him. It’s a guy thing. 🤷

Never liked the stooges. Dumb and Dumber is one of the few movies I walked out on…

Now, the Marx Brothers!!! That was a talented bunch of comedians. Couldn’t believe my kids and their friends had never heard of them. Bought a couple of DVDs and my kids loved them.

I love the Three Stooges! I remember growing up and watching them with my family, especially my dad. Ah the memories. 😃
It seems like one of those things that either you like it or you don’t.
irishpatrick had a good point about part of the humor being them insulting each other.
I think that’s the point of interest my whole family has. 😛 We’re all comfortable enough to jab at each other but its part of how we have fun.

I love 'em.

On the other hand, I’ve seen some trailers from the upcoming Stooges remake, and it ain’t quite the same

Duh! 😃

Seriously, though, I don’t know that I’ve ever watched the Three Stooges. I do like geeky things and goofy humor, though. 🤓 So maybe I would like it if I watched it.

I love the Three Stooges…I’m looking forward to the new movie. When I was a kid…it was my favorite show…and even now at 57 years old, I find some of the humor and gags funny…it was an innocet time…they make me laugh.🙂

Look at the current comedies today, are they all that different slap stick humor has just been up dated to just as mean verbal slap in the face or poke in the eye. As a Man I do not like either both are just as un loveing.

I don’t know… I’m a female, and I’ve loved the stupidity and slap-stick humour of “The Three Stooges” since I was a little girl. My brother and I looked forward to watching it on Sunday afternoons growing up. I admit, it always drove me nuts how they’d make a complete mess of someone’s home or business, but I still loved them none-the-less. Curly was my favorite.

I haven’t watched them in years, but I think shows like that always just helped me laugh, loosen up my stays and be a “girly tomboy”, as I was sometimes too prim and proper growing up.

For me it was “Paul Shannon’s Adverturetime” on the local Pittsburgh TV station back in the sixties. In fact it was local TV kiddie show hosts who pretty much resurrected the Stooges for a whole new generation at that time. So much so, many of them (Shannon included) had cameos in the Stooges last film in 1965.
That brings back a lot of memories…

BTW, look up Moe Howard on the Mike Douglas Show on youtube. He did these interviews in the early 1970s. He was the last original Stooge left. Though old and retired he still had enough energy to throw a few pies. One at Douglas and the other at his wife in the audience.😃

My wife is the only woman I’ve ever personally known who adores the Stooges. She’s a keeper, that one.

I am surprised nobody mentioned this:

In general, women are turned on by what they hear and enjoy greater use of spoken word, especially the long, deep, complex, and or creative / affectionate kind.

In general, guys are turned on by what they see and enjoy expressions to the point.

The Three Stooges embody the latter: limited dialogue, yet constant flamboyant humorous bodily expression.

Hence, the man’s senses are stimulated and satisfied.
For most women, however, not so much.

I think one of the reasons why adult women do not like Three Stooges is that they always have a sense that they are “wasting valuable time” and that they “should be doing something useful instead of just sitting around watching ancient slapstick comedies.”

Often, too, women feel that any men in their lives (husbands, boyfriends, sons, fathers, brothers) should be getting up off their lazy duffs and doing something useful, too. That garage needs cleaning out, that toilet needs to be re-seated, and if nothing else, they could help the wife do laundry, cooking, shopping, or take the children out so that she can get all those things done in peace!

Women have a very hard time just sitting around doing nothing.

I have to admit that the only television show that I completely focus on is Biggest Loser. But during any other TV show, including football games and figure skating, I am usually on the computer, cooking a meal, reading mail, paying bills, cleaning chores all over the house , planning menus. etc.

It’s even worse with TiVo, because if I miss anything, my husband will just replay it.

This is one reason I dislike going to movies. I hate just sitting there watching a movie. I feel like I really should be doing something else during the movie, and of course you can’t do much in a movie theater. If I ever get a phone that receives email, I will probably be one of those people who is constantly checking email during the movie. At least I don’t text.

I find that when I DO just sit and watch TV or a movie, I usually fall asleep. This drive my husband nuts! But at least he knows better than to suggest that we rent a movie and watch it at home while relaxing together on the sofa… I don’t care what movie it is, even if my favorite actor is in it–I will inevitably fall asleep within the first 15 minutes of just sitting there.

So maybe that’s why a lot of women don’t like Stooges and other simliar shows–they feel that they are wasting valuable time watching them.

I disagree with this. I think there a lot of women still “wasting valuable time” out there, it’s just that their mindless TV watching is tuned more to Maury, Desperate Housewives, or any of the Real Housewives of… type shows. If they weren’t watching, these shows wouldn’t still be on.

I agree with TheRealJuliane. Men secretly wish they could let lose on someone and get away with it. If they can’t, they can at least watch someone else do it.
