We Christians believe that God is the Judge and He will punish all wrong doers accordingly. But when it comes to Muslims its man who does the judging and goes on a killing rampage eg Salman rashidie’s Satanic Verses, the recent Danish cartoons.

Does it mean that Man is more powerful than allah?

I don’t mean to sound dismissive or a jerk, but is this a serious question?

It seems along the line of the Star Trek movie quote by Captain Kirk “what does God need with a starship”. It seems as if the original post is saying allah is not Allah. Thus Islam follows a false god and not the same God that Jews and Christians do. But of course I could be wrong:shrug:

I am no Islamic scholar, so I could be wrong. That said, it seems to me that the followers of Islam believe that doing Allah’s will on earth is infinitely more important than doing their own will. They believe in a THEOCRACY. Many Christains do not have God THAT front and center in their lives. CINO - Christian In Name Only.

Man is not more powerful than Allah, rather, man is here to do Allah’s Will. We Catholics also believe that we too are here to God’s Will. The idea of “Kill the Infidel” is their understanding of Allah’s will for unbelievers. Those that kill the infidel see themselves as Allah’s soliders.

It is interesting to me that we Catholics believe that the only sin that cannot be forgiven is the sin of unbelief. God knows our heart, regardless of what we say to others. If we are CINO, we condemn ourselves to an eternity in Hell because we chose to not believe in God. “Kill the Infidel” just gets you there sooner. If you don’t believe in Allah, you don’t belong here, especially if you are trying to get Muslims to quit believing in Allah.

But I also know that only a very few Islamic extremists actually kill the infidel. It seems that the vast majority of Muslims have patience and hope the infidel will convert to Islam. It seems to me that a Muslim who rejects his or her faith is in much more danger of being killed than a Christain who does not go out of his way to insult the Islamic Faith or its prophet, Mohammed.

Today’s current situation is complicated by the politics of the world. There is a great disparity in the life styles in Islam and in Christianity. Islam is having a hard time seeing our modern ways and wondering why they are so far behind in the comforts in this life. Some extremists are taking unfair advantage of this disparity. There is an element of deep anger that makes “kill the infidel” a tactic of choice as we have seen these past few months here in America.

As much as I dislike Islam, I believe it is because Muslims take their religion more seriously than most Christians in the West seem to do, certainly to the point they think it’s worth fighting for when they feel it’s being attacked.

I would note that the deaths in the Danish cartoons mess were not caused by Muslims attacking people over them. They were caused when Muslims protested against the cartoons in brutal dictatorships like Libya, Syria and Musharraf’s Pakistan where public protest or public gatherings of any kind are strictly prohibited, and so the police dispersed the crowds with live ammunition and killed people.

muslims view the Koran as Christians view Christ. Mohammed is to the Koran as the Holy Spirit is to Christ.

Blasphemy the Holy spirit and I will personaly experince the kindling of Gods wrath. It will take everything in me to not go into a frenzy.

There experience is as real as mine.

Note that that is the opinion of the writer; not the teaching of the Catholic Church.
841 The Church’s relationship with the Muslims. "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind’s judge on the last day."330
Catechism of the Catholic Church. 330 refers to a foot note which refers one to the VII Document Lumen Gentium [Light of the Gentiles].**

To answer that question, I have tried to rationalize that it is not, but it always points back to Mohammad and Islam itself. Muslims judge and execute because they have the Islamic law. Unfortunately that law put spiritual sins under its jurisprudence. Thus Muslims will be punished for committing adultery, failing to fast or apostasy.

As for the question of the thread, Muslims simply do what Mohammad would have done. Kill those who mock him. Even though it may not be in the Quran, Muslims are exhorted to be like Mohammad himself. Therefore what he had done was remembered and when in doubt it becomes a bench mark for Muslims to act or behave. And remember too, in Islam context, prophets did not sin only made mistake. So if Mohammad had his tormentor assassinated, it would come naturally today that if anyone is so stupid enough as to mock him, some crazy Muslim goons would not hesitate to make sure that Islamic justice prevails. 🤷

Very few kill non-Muslims, but that is not only what Jihad is about. It can be waged by the tongue, their wealth or with the sword. By the tongue they are allowed to deceive us which is called taqiyya or kitman (sometimes spelled kethman or kithman), and with their wealth means zakat or Muslim Charity. At least 1/8th of it is to go to their Jihadists fighting with the sword, or by violence since violence is always an option in Islam.

Here is a writeup about deception in Islam.

The terms extremists, radicals, peaceful, and moderate are Western labels attached to Muslims and Muslims use them to continue the confusion. In the Koran, the terms used are believers, unbelievers and hypocrites. Kufir and infidels are also used to classify the unbelievers. Kufir is a dirty word in Islam, not so in the West. We make fun of it, or are nuetral towards it. If a person is labeled a kufir they are eligible to be killed. They have done something to warrent it such as make fun of Mohammed or even telling the truth about him because he is a very unsavory character.

The initial post didn’t surprise me very much. I have asked this from Muslims in this forum before why they think they set themselves up as judges. I wanted to know why they don’t think it is committing the sin of shirk which is the worst sin in Islam. It is putting themselves up with Allah as the judge of human beings. Mohammed did such a thing in Hadith B1,7,331 and they don’t seem to mind that he did that so I figured he is the only one allowed to commit that sin. It seems rather hypocritical to me.

And in Sharia laws which are the laws that they work towards replacing the laws that men made in all the lands they inhabit, killing non-Muslims is ok. There is no penalty for doing that or other things. the only ones who get penalized, or killed are non-Muslims if they do anything to a Muslim. Killing non-Muslims earn the Jihadist their highest reward which is a ticket to their paradise and they don’t have to spend any time in hell. So you see the violent ones are not misinterpreting Islam like we are always told. And the ones telling us that the violent Jihadists are misintepreting Islam are abiding by Islam’s laws by deceiving us.

Anything that advances Islam is good, anything that inhibits it is bad. Mohammed changed what the idea of sin and good is in Islam but that is a different subject and I won’t go into it for now.

Good question!

I have heard so many instances of things being offensive to Muslims. Are they that thin-skinned? When the Taliban were in power in Afghanistan, they blew up the Buddha statues in Bamayan as these were “offensive to Muslims”. I think you would be hard pressed to find any Christians who would be offended, much less want to destroy part of the world’s religious heritage.

As soon as someone whispers a rumor about a Christian village in Pakistan where someone allegedly desecrated the Qur’an, a bunch of hooligans go out and burn, pillage and murder Christians, and then they desecrate the Bible.

This is so stupid. We Christians have had to live with Maplethorpe’s “**** Christ”, and one cartoon sets off a worldwide frenzy of violence where the only people killed were Muslims.

Sorry. I have great sympathy with Islam, but not the wacko-nutso variety.

“The religion of peace” should practice tolerance. There is no need for violence.

From what I’ve observed of Muslims, both here and elsewhere, the Muslim faith doesn’t appear to run nearly as deep as any other faith, so they over react instead of facing the possibility of questioning the inconsistencies within their faith.

They loved him more than anything besides God.

How would you like it if all your life people said Jesus started terrorism, and Christianity is just a bunch of suicide bombers? Then, people start making fun of him, calling him a terrorist, and drawing pictures of him with a bomb in his turban.

Yeah, we get pissed. We would never question inconstancies, because there are none. And we know that Islam is true. There are MANY inconsistencies with the bible and Christianity.

But seriously, we love him more than ANYTHING next to Allah (SWT)

Shirk.

People do make fun of Jesus, and they do make offensive drawings of him. Funny how people don’t go into hiding for fear of their life after that,
Yeah, we get pissed. We would never question inconstancies, because there are none. And we know that Islam is true. There are MANY inconsistencies with the bible and Christianity.
If that were true then Muslims would be willing to engage in intellectually honest discussion, and would show a willingness to censure those who don’t. I dare you to make a thread on the subject of inconsistencies within Islam and argue in an honest manner.

The truth hurts.

The truth hurts.
Yes, because a few protesters can completely represent the entire Ummah that consists of 1.2 billion people.

You create a thread about the inconsistencies of Islam and I will answer honestly and with what I believe in a civil manner. I will create one about Christianity. 👍

You know what I love more than Muhammad? Being alive and having the right to express my displeasure with the Islamic religion, including my personal distaste for Muhammad, both in terms of his supposed “revelations” and his personal conduct.

Now, who among your oh-so-tolerant “Ummah” will not place their love of the man above my rights? They do not seem to be many, as secularism is at a low ebb in the Islamic world. It’s a pity. We in the West are hoarding all the secular humanists. Maybe we ought to drop Christopher Hitchens and his ilk on Iran…
