Why do Muslims not embrace Bahá'u'lláh as their prophet?

You know this is a very old thread… but as a Baha’i I thought I might add a few points to what has been mentioned here…

There have been Muslims who became Baha’is in fact in the early years of the Faith most all the Baha’is had Muslim backgrounds… Of course in Muslim lands when a Muslim becomes a Baha’i he/she could risk being considered an apostate and the penalty could be imprisonment or perhaps death.

I believe that if Iran fully accepted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights no Baha’i there would be imprisoned or persecuted…

Baha’is do accept the Quran as an “authentic repository” of the Word of God and we accept Prophet Muhammad as a Manifestation of God… We also acknowledge that Prophet Muhammad was the “Seal of the Prophets” … for us Baha’is this means that the age of prophecy has ended in 1260 AH/1844 CE and that the age of the fulfillment of prophecy has now begun.

Many Muslims believe Prophet Muhammad was the “last” prophet but there are prophecies of the Mahdi and the Return of Christ… It is these prophecies which were studied in the early 19th century that led to the Declaration of the Bab in 1844 in Shiraz…

The Baha’i Faith is an independent religion with it’s own calendar, scriptures and laws and it did emerg from Islam…somewhat in a similar way to how Christianity emerged from Judaism.
