Why do non-Catholics accept Christ as their Lord and Savior?

Hi, I visited a Christian church and they did an all call for people to accept Christ as their Lord and Savior. I have never heard of this in the Catholic church; however, I understand that we are considered Christians because we are followers of Christ. Do we have to invite him in our hearts also?
