I understand that many non-catholics would argue that the Catholic faith was not the true faith if they did not have the right information, but this is the catholic answers forum…er, why not look things up on the catholic answers website and see the truth? I don’t understand why protestant, muslims, and other non-catholics still argue…just check the website out…right?

I think the answer is as varied as the number of individual “arguing”.

Some just like to argue.

Some are actually looking for better understanding and doing the research necessary to debate a point gets them closer to that understanding. (Though I’m Catholic, I’d probably fall into this camp.)

Others are absolutely sure that Catholics are going to hell and are trying to save us from the “traditions of men” that will damn us all.

Some are what I like to call “invincibly arrogant”.

etc. etc. etc.

(Edited )

Im usually over on the non-Catholic religions forum more than here in Apologetics. I guess to some extent I do like to argue but I usually am fighting the the silly ideas about protestants, like that we don’t really worship, that we hate Mary, that there are 35,000 protestant denominations, and other similar things. but as RCWarrior said, I definitely learn alot more from he research for debating than if I just read about a topic and moved on.

If you read the posts to this site there are far more Catholics than Non Catholics. The arguing is done by Catholics also. In fact from what I have seen some of the catholic posters are down right rude. Some of them scare me to death. I am glad none of them can track me down.

You must not have heard about the Vatican protestant location database.

Hehe.

RF technology has made it possible for the Holy See to track each and every Protestant through a subdermal microchip implant. St Nicholas delivers them once a year while Protestants sleep unawares.

They then prioritize who to round up based upon how often they post conspiracy theories on Catholic message boards.

I sure hope Jack Chick doesn’t read these boards, 'cause if he does I think he’ll have an idea for a new tract.

😃

The syndrome of the “quare fremuerunt gentes”. They just argue for the sake of argument, and to pretend that the issue hasn’t been solved, although it had been solved by apologists past.

As long as the Catholic Church is standing firm, there will be arguments. The Church is an everlasting sign of contradiction to outsiders.

Read Psalm 2.
