Why do non catholics dislike Mother Mary?

I’m sorry. I’m still trying to understand. It’s your belief that Mary is one of the 24 elders? If not, how does she get the power to “have” our prayers? If she is an elder, how do the other elders have our prayers if we don’t mention them by name? And would she somehow be able to prioritize prayers for people who prayed to her over those of us who don’t? I hope you see my confusion. I’m not trying to be disrespectful, just offer an average protestants view of Mary. I don’t see the biblical basis or point to it. The bible clearly states that Jesus is our only mediator between us and our Father. That’s why the veil was torn right?

Respectfully,

Chris

The is no Biblical basis for it. This is why Roman Catholics must have other authorities in which they consider equal to Scripture. It’s an agenda, not truth.

Mary expressed her will to remain a virgin at the moment of the Annunciation (cf. Lk 1:34). Also, “Woman, behold, your son!”, “Behold, your mother” (Jn 19:26), which Jesus addressed to Mary and to his favorite disciple from the Cross, imply that Mary had no other children.
Where do you come up with that? The Bible never says any of that.

I dont think people really hate MAMA MARY but i think people say stuff about her out of hate for Catholics.

A 2000 year old agenda?

Since you’ve just started posting here, I’m going to ask you a question that you may have overlooked. Does believing in Mary’s perpetual virginity have some impact on one’s salvation?

I’m just trying to find out why it’s so important for some to keep beating the same drum?

Is there a Biblical basis against it? I ask this because it’s, as I’ve repeated so many times before, interpretational differences…

And they will avoid her like the plague, because of their hatred for Catholics. I know. I remember being “assigned” the topic “The Virgin Birth” to preach on because none of the other leaders wanted to touch it.

It is our belief that Mary is eternally alive in heaven…

If the Bible clearly states that Jesus is the only mediator between us and God, is it wrong to ask another person to pray for you?

It doesn’t matter. The Scriptures do not paint any picture other than Mary and Joseph having a normal marriage. Prove otherwise please.

Justy, under Jewish law, it would have been up to the next oldest sibling to care for the mother, HAD there been any other siblings…

Isn’t it a fundamental belief that should have some scriptural basis other than just a “we believe”? To grant Mary this status and power without anything to back it up is very presumptuous. I think of all the prayers in the New Testament and 99% were straight to God. Maybe one was to Jesus right? So again, I am trying to answer this forum’s question. It’s not that we dislike her. Just lack understanding that has yet to be explained.

Please, read back through this thread…it’s all been explained, explicitly.

Also, let’s truly discuss and not make this a one sided conversation. Please respond to the questions I posed.

What?? The whole premise of it says nothing to indicate that they didn’t have a normal marriage. Where do you get the idea that it indicates that they didn’t ever have sex?? This is not in accordance with what the Scriptures say here.
You are misunderstanding why I posted what i did. I am refuting the idea that the term “knew her not” indicates that they had sex after Jesus was born. The term is used to establish that she had not previously had sex, begfore or during pregnancy. It in no way indicates she had sex afterwards.

And in no way does it establish she didn’t.

Prodigal Son,

I don’t thing it’s wrong at all to ask for someone else. But how can she hear a million prayers at once, continually? Does she have God’s power? And how do you know this?

Chris
