Why do non catholics dislike Mother Mary?

I have some non-Catholic friends who wonder the same thing. Here is what I tell them: Here on earth when we are faced with afflictions, don’t we go to our families and friends and ask them to pray for us. When we call on Mary , we are asking for her intercession, what a better way to ask for help with the praying by someone who is already up there.
Who did Jesus tell us to pray to? Isn’t He the one that would know what really works and what the correct procedure is?

When was the last time you apologized for offending people Timothy? I know I and several others have pointed out to you how you come across. I don’t ever recall an apology. In fact, I think you lectured us on how we were wrong. What does that tell us about your heart?
I made comment to Tim, maybe to late if he’s gone from this thread. However, I believe I’ve spoken to you about your way of speaking to non-catholics and I don’t remember seeing an apology from you. I apologize if I missed it. You can be very condescending, you know!!!

Amen

Actually one of those churches if i remember right had no criticism. I actually dont think she was in error until she tried to claim leadership over the others. Jesus was asked which deciple would be the greatest. He didnt say Peter, He didnt chose any of them over the others. He said they wouldnt lord over the people the way the pagans do. (my bad paraphrase)
very good point. TY

Not believing “in” God but “Believing God” Trusting what He says
I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, MRL, but…just for the sake of argument:

What’s the verse that lots of Protestants love to quote regarding “all you need to do is Believe?” John 3:16.

It seems that he is saying believe “IN” God, not “believe God”, as you’re saying, right?

So, even the demons believe “IN” God, as James says, but, clearly, that is not enough.

Good point. Can we agree context can help us understand what is meant?

I think this is where the confusion comes in. Catholics ask Mary and the saints to pray for them. They interced for us.

If you review my posting history you will see that there are certain members that I am very hard on. I agree with that and readily admit it. When I see the same arrogance and demeaning behavior that I once possesed, as a protestant, I am quick to confront it. It is unfortunate that many of the protestants that come here do so to convert Catholics. They do not come to learn and interact, they come to preach. Even more unfortunate is that they do this in a spirit of deception and deceit. I have no tolerance for this and I address it rather quickly. So far I have been fairly accurate in my judgements as the individuals that I had the harshest disagreements with have been banned from the site.

Now, I am still trying to figure you out. There are times that I see you really trying but other times it seems that your mind is completely made up and that you may have an agenda here that goes beyond learning. I am sorry if I have made improper judgements of you but I am very weary of people that try to convert Catholics. Are we not both Christians?

Are you saying you aren’t praying to Mary to help you?

Just one place in the Gospels (or the rest of the NT) I’d love to see where Jesus (or the Apostles) encouraged us to speak to those on the otherside of the grave to pray for us.

Let’s be honest: you think protestants are lesser Christians (if they are Christian) than you – look at what they lack!! They do not come to learn and interact, are you implying you (or the CC) has nothing to learn from them because the CC has all the answers? they come to preach. Don’t look now but you preach your church. Even more unfortunate is that they do this in a spirit of deception and deceit. Whenever that’s so, it’s wrong. I have no tolerance for this and I address it rather quickly. Do you still hold to your opinion of me

You know Tweety, you had an attitude with me and with all of the other Catholics on this site since the very first post I posted. I know you don’t like us and that you will do whatever you can to cause division and disruption in a thread.

THe fact that I firmly and confidently proclaim what the Catholic Church teaches is not arrogant. Arrogance is thinking that yoou yourself knows better than anyone else. Arrogance is saying that the Church is wrong because the Holy Spirit tells me so. I do not think I have done any of those thigs.

I am harsh with some people, that I freely admit.

Like I have said several times before, read Revelation.

Thank you. I have an attitude seems like the pot calling the kettle black. Glad you have no arrogance! I never said I know better, just I believe in the Bible for my teaching. You know saying I don’t like you and others now that is arrogance on your part. God Bless you anyway. Oh and it is also wrong. I just don’t like the way you treat others.

I’ve read Revelation several times. Would you like to point out specifically what passages address the issue I raised?
I really do not want to rehash what has already been posted. There are far too many pages to go through to direct you to the posts. You will need to reread the thread. Revelation 5 is a good starting point.
