I really do not want to rehash what has already been posted. There are far too many pages to go through to direct you to the posts. You will need to reread the thread. Revelation 5 is a good starting point.
Oh now I remember. I’ve aready made comment about these verses too. We are back to spuare one because I believe I showed that they have nothing to do with us praying to saints to pray for us.

So we should condemn a Church, with currently over a billion people, because of the act of a ‘few’ sinful men? One man was sinful, a hundred, a thousand…so now anyone in that Church must be condemned? Let’s see, all men are sinful but, the first public sinful man was Judas Iscariot, who handed over our Lord, should we condemn all that follow Him now?
I just said that the Church, in the past, made some wrong stuff. Now it is not like that anymore, or is it? Of course it doesn’t kill people anymore. Therefore, I never talked about the Church in the present, and neither if it is condemned, corrupt or anything like that.

It is unfortunate that many of the protestants that come here do so to convert Catholics. Let’s be honest: you think protestants are lesser Christians (if they are Christian) than you – look at what they lack!! They do not come to learn and interact, are you implying you (or the CC) have nothing to learn from them because the CC has all the answers? they come to preach. Don’t look now but you preach your church. Even more unfortunate is that they do this in a spirit of deception and deceit. Whenever that’s so, it’s wrong. I have no tolerance for this and I address it rather quickly. So far I have been fairly accurate in my judgements as the individuals that I had the harshest disagreements with have been banned from the site. You’ve come down hard on me before. Do you still hold to your opinion of me
Now, I am still trying to figure you out. There are times that I see you really trying but other times it seems that your mind is completely made up and your mind is not made up??? and that you may have an agenda here that goes beyond learning. I am sorry if I have made improper judgements of you but I am very weary of people that try to convert Catholics. Are we not both Christians?
I hope so for our sakes.
IYO, would it be better for me if I were part of the CC?
In saying I am hostile it appears that my explanation was not adequate for you and that you in turn want to escalate the tension. If you read your replies I think you will see how you could come across combative.
  1. When I see someone being demeaning and arrogant I am hard on them, no doubt. I do not ever claim to be specially gifted or inspired above or outside my Church. To me, those who do are arrogant. I find it much more difficult to submit to an authority other than myself.
  2. I believe that protestants are missing out on the fullness of their faith. God has much more for them that they reject by not aligning with the teachings of the Church. Mary is one such example.
  3. I believe that we can come to understand what you believe but I do not think the protestants faith can teach us anything regarding the practice of our faith that can not be known through the Catholic Church.
  4. You see, this is a Catholic website. The fact that you come here would imply that you desire to learn about what Catholics believe. I come here to share that with you.
  5. I do think it would be better for you and all protestants to unify with the Catholic Church and Her teachings.
  6. I am not sure what to think about you. I think you have some strong opposition to Catholocism and that you do not believe it is the Church that God established. I sometimes feel that you are trying to know us better and to get along but then you reply, as in this post, with some pretty direct and confrontational words. I do hope we can learn to “play nice”. 😃

This again, highlights our problem. Your interpretation is apart from that of the Church. It is different than ours yet in your mind it is the correct one. In my mind, the Church is correct. I wonder how many different interpretations of Revelation we could find? The bottom line is, God chose to preserve the truth, how He did it is the question you need to wrestle with.

I’m not necessarily disagreeing with you, MRL, but…just for the sake of argument:

What’s the verse that lots of Protestants love to quote regarding “all you need to do is Believe?” John 3:16.

It seems that he is saying believe “IN” God, not “believe God”, as you’re saying, right?

So, even the demons believe “IN” God, as James says, but, clearly, that is not enough.
To go in the Kingdom of Heaven you must produce good fruits. To produce good fruits you must believe in God: that He sent His only Son so we might be saved. Only the ones that produce good fruits can enter His Kingdom. He doesn’t care how many good fruits we produce. The only important thing is that we must make good fruits. Every good tree tries to produce as many good fruits as possible. There is not a single tree that doesn’t not produce fruits (spiritually).

  4. You see, this is a Catholic website. ****And this forum is for and about non-catholics ****The fact that you come here would imply that you desire to learn about what Catholics believe. And to clear up any misunderstandings you might have about what I believe (as a ‘protestant’) and to exchange differing views - personally I find it good to be challenge by differing views. It helps me see my errors and/or gets me to study and sometimes I’m more convinced of my original understandings. I come here to share that with you.
  5. I do think it would be better for you and all protestants to unify with the Catholic Church and Her teachings. You think we are missing something and we think you are missing something, therefore, honest discussion. I hope that discussion will also show that through the Blood of Jesus, we are brothers and sisters in Christ.
  6. I am not sure what to think about you. I think you have some strong opposition to Catholocism I have ‘problems with some of the teachings that appear to be refuted by the Bible’ and that you do not believe it is the Church that God established I believe Jesus established His church and the CC is a branch of that church. Jesus is the vine, we and our ministries are at best brances. I sometimes feel that you are trying to know us better and to get along but then you reply, as in this post, with some pretty direct and confrontational words. It’s okay for you to confront but not me? I do hope we can learn to “play nice”. 😃

A slight correction, if you please. I hold that the ONLY correct understanding of the Bible is by the Holy Spirit. When we align our understanding with Him, we are correct. I do not assume I am correct. I don’t assume any church is correct. I only hope that we become more and more open to the Holy Spirit so we can understand those things that are important for us to understand. Wasn’t it Paul that said there will be a time when we’ll understand perfectly as we are understood (I understand this to be in Heaven)? Didn’t Paul also caution us not to think we know anything (out of arrogance) or we don’t know anything as we aught to know. I think part of what he is saying we might have true knowledge, but if we lack love in sharing it, we don’t have life changing knowledge.

Amen to that Dokimas. Sometimes love is the missing ingredient in speaking to others. Jesus said the greatest commandment is love. I too fall short on that many times.

I dont think people really hate MAMA MARY but i think people say stuff about her out of hate for Catholics.
Why would anyone hate Catholics? I know people who disagree with Catholic doctrine, but to say people hate Catholics makes no sense from a Christian perspective does it?

Ever heard of Jack Chick?
Isn’t he the one that puts out tracks? This is a funny story…I was shopping at Walmart, not too long ago, and opened the item and their was a tract in it. I can’t remember the exact words on the tract and I threw it away after reading it. If I recall it was a comic type thing and was just a message of warning to those that have not received the Lord. I don’t know if this is the persons track but i did think it was a rather creative way to get the message of hope and the warning of not getting the message.

I have a sil that sends those in her cards. I read them am not offended by them even if I do not always agree. Some people here do not like them because in some he refers in a bad way to the Catholic Church. Guess I am dumb never had one sent to me that did.

Not only does he “refer in a bad way to the Catholic Church”, he flat out lies about the Church… in ways that even most protestants would protest to.

Hi tweetymom,

Any suggestions about what I should do. I did the meet and greet thing. I figured out the signature thing. I went to the member online and saw you cute name and clicked on your name and this is how I got here. I was told by a catholic friend about this place and was told to stay in apologetics and nonreligious unless i became a catholic. otherwise just observe.

i know that is rather a vague question but maybe who are the people that i might follow around to engage in the forumn?
