Why do Orthodox Converts have to go thru the Eastern Rites?

Hello,

I was wondering why those who convert from Orthodox are not accepted into the Latin Rite and what is the different between the Eastern Catholic Rites and the Latin Rite. Thanks.

Although traditionally, Eastern Orthodox converts to Catholicism opt for a Liturgical style more like what they’re used to, it’s not necessary, and you’re welcome to join the Latin Rite. Eastern Catholics can have married priests just like the Orthodox. Eastern Catholics also use the Divine Liturgy of Chrysostom (like Orthodox) not the Roman Catholic Mass. Eastern Catholics use a Eucharist of Bread and Wine, unlike the Roman Catholics’ different Eucharist which can be accepted by hand.

We accept the Pope as the Head of the Church but are entitled to keep our Eastern rite (ikonostas, Julian Calendar, etc.).
