False teaching has always been there throughout redemptive history. It is allowed for the purpose of God, filtering the wheat from the tares.
Yes you are right Adam. God uses everything available to Him for His purpose.

This is a very good point, Tweety. You are an excellent example of this. You are available, and faithful, and must show up for work, so God uses you to serve in a Catholic parish, even though your beliefs are not Catholic. 👍

I don’t think thats a very fair question. Catholics bash Protestants and Protestants bash Catholics. Its not right but its true.😦
I think it’s very fair as it’s pays (in the evangeliical/protestant world) to write books about the big bad Catholic Church (Dave Hunt, James White, Doug Bachelor . . .etc.). Try to find that kind of garbage being said about Protestant denominations by Catholic apologists/ theologians/ writers or for that matter leaders within the CC. Unfortunately, there are whole Protestant churces/leaders (even denominations) that bash the CC.

p.s. I could write more but I’ll stop here.

Differences do exist, but I believe they are only important if we make them so.
So should we stop believing the eucharist does not contain the presence of Jesus for the sake of ecumenism? How far are you willing to stretch the truth for peace?

I think that’s a very dangerous attitude brother. It reminds me of a Calvinst telling another Calvinist that they are not truly a Calvinist. This kind of attitude is found in all Christian circles. Did the Catholic Church give you the authority and responsibilty to tell other Catholics that they are not Catholic?

I suppose it has it’s risks. However, who better than a Calvanist to tell someone they are not representing the Calvanist point? In the Defending Catholicism thread, you replied to Zerinus that you wanted to make sure that Historical Confessional Reformed theology “did not get misrepresented”. This is very important, since I think you are the only one on the thread representing this position.

In like manner, we are all called to “judge rightly”. This is not the same as judging a persons heart with God. It is judging the content of the post, and evaluating it against what the Church teaches. The Church’s duty is to teach the faith, and it is our duty to hold fast to it. We need to recognize when we, or someone else, is not in unity with the One Faith passed on to us by the Apostles. This is what it means to test everything, and hold fast to what is true.

Tweety has made it plain that she rejects a significant number of core Catholic doctrine. These elements are not “optional” for Catholics. If one rejects them, then one rejects the Catholic faith.

As I have said before, though, I can only go on what is posted. For all I know, she is role playing, and does not believe a word of what she writes! 🤷

Did I say that? Not!!! Blessed are the peace makers? Are you one?

Once again I am not role play, never have and never will. But thank you anyway for you assement of me.

Why do other non Catholic religions always bash Catholocism? Well speaking as some one who was never raised catholic (just converted this year) and was part of many different religions I did bash christians but it was never catholics I always went after the protestants. I really hated guys like falwell and pat robertson but even though I did not at the time belive what John paul II preached I had respect for him for standing up for his belifes and not being a hypocrite. I think jp2 had a part in my conversion by just planting the seeds in my head so that when I did have the good news told to me I instictivley went to the catholic church as the true christianity. I think non catholic religions bash catholocism becuse it is the truth and people do not like to be told they are wrong. people are so full of hate and rage that when they see others who are not they become angry at themselves for not having peace and direct it toward those who do have peace.

I wouldn’t ask an RC to do that but it would be nice if you allowed other christians to hold differing opinions without labeling them heretics.

I never labeled anyone a heretic here, and recollect I’m talking to a Catholic. God bless Varc.

Well, I accept that you do not see yourself doing it, but in truth, whenever you log on and represent yourself as “Catholic” while you deny the Teachings of the Church, you are role playing to everyone, apparently you just don’t realize this.

I am not in a position to assess you. Only God can do that. I can only assess your actions and postings on CAF. So far as your public postings have demonstrated, you deny the Catholic faith.

Well, let’s see:
Differences do exist, but I believe they are only important if we make them so.
So, if some people think that Jesus is not present in the Eucharist, and want to throw the species on the floor, or flush them down the toilet, why should we make that difference important? Let us not be concerned at all about this, or make it important. This is the way to peace, right?

No, josie, you are being misled. Tweety is not a Catholic. She is role playing one, but she has made it clear that she does not espouse the Catholic faith.

But you’re church does label people as heretics if they don’t subcribe to transubstantiation. If Rome were more tolerant of the theological opinions of others perhaps unity would be possible. Oh wait, I forgot Rome is infallible so all other opinions are really errors so Rome doesn’t have to respect them. And there it is. It is Roman dogma to not respect the teological traditions of others and one wonders “Why do other non Catholic religions always bash Catholocism?” Funny huh?

You have thrown out a lot of accusations in one paragraph…all of it erroneous
  1. Subscibe to transubstantiation? Either you believe John 6 or you don’t… the Church doesn’t demand that you “subscribe”
  2. What is “tolerance”? If you mean watering down your own beliefs in order to placate non believers…that isn’t and shouldn’t be considered reasonable.
  3. You don’t understand infallibilty as it pertains to our religion
  4. If it is “Roman dogma” to not respect the theological traditions of others you should have no trouble citing the dogmatic text which seems to do that. Please…something from the Catechism or some other Church dogma that “disrespects” the religion of others.
Sir…you are a Catholic baiter pure and simple but not a very skillful one at that…just a good old fashioned mud slinger:(

I’ve never understood why Lutherans, Catholics and Anglicans/Episcopalians do not have open communion with one another. Each believe in a real presence. Transubstantiation/Consubstantiation. One could make the argument about apostolic succession, but when one considers how often the papacy was basically bought and sold in antiquity and how many people, via nepotism and political favor were made bishops and cardinals even that argument is rather dubious. I suppose one can make the argument that communion should symbolize a total agreement. Well, if that is the case I’ve been at masses where maybe 12 of the 100-plus people present should be receiving the eucharist yet they do.
