I used to be a Baptist until someone actually told me the real truth about the church, since Catholics were the first true church and all. I’m just not sure if other religions that BROKE off of the catholic church and decided to do their own damn thing are taught to disrespect Catholics? Just throwing that out there, I never see a Catholics disrespect other church’s…

I see that today is your first day here at CAF. Stick around and you’ll see plenty of bashing by Catholics. My church has been called all sorts of names, immoral, pagan, post-Christian, and that was just yesterday at here CAF!

You’ll see all kinds of non-Catholic disrespect and bashing here at CAF. I guess it’s payback. All my life I’ve been in places where my denomination was fairly supportive of Catholicism, and I find it ironic to find such a negative attitude by some here of non-Catholics. I think it’s the way CAF unwittingly comes across - as a place for uber-Catholics, even though the Catechism says otherwise about “seperated brethern.”

Some Catholics, it seems, like to do their own damn thing, too.

Maye it’s because Catholics say all other Christians are not complete without becoming Catholics, thus basing all other Christians. Another way of putting it is, ‘what goes around comes around’.

Bashing is wrong no matter who does it. God alone is the judge. That does not mean we can’t disagree about what the Bible says. We are humans and won’t understand perfectly until we are in Heaven. NON of us understand as we are understood and will understand (1 Cor 13)

I’ve missed it. What church are you a part of, if you don’t mind repeating yourself? Thank you.

You won’t here it from this Southern Baptist. But, in answer to your question, mostly due to ignorance. You must admit, Catholicism is a dizzying array of terms, offices, charges, and rituals. You can’t expect one raised in, or converted to, a typical American protestant church (I despise the term protestant) to know the meaning of much of this. There simply that kind of time.

I would suggest a little patience with my brethren, and some gentle instruction. Though don’t expect any in return. Perhaps this is your vocation for the church?

It’s very sad what had happened in the 16th century from Martin Luther and others later who parted from the Catholic Church. I am what you would call a revert. I left the Catholic Church in 1982 and returned in 2001. I dated a Baptist woman in 2003 and almost left the Catholic Church again to join Southern Baptist because she was right on one thing, I did not know my faith. I had to study on my own and learn from Catholic religious and Catholic faithful who are OBEDIENT to the magisterial teachings of the Catholic Church. Catholic (Greek, meaning Universal) I too will be BASHED after I am done writing this. There are many people outside of the Catholic Church who strive to do their best to live the
Gospel message by Lord Jesus Christ, as God will reward them for their faith and their works living Christ message. As a Catholic I do say there were(Borgia popes during rennaisance and before Martin Luther)and still are some probably many Catholic religious and Catholic lay people who live very disobedient to the Catholic Church’s teaching which adds fuel to the fire. The problem is not Christianity by Jesus Christ, the problem was and always will be Christians. Catholics are the first Christians. It is ONE,HOLY, CATHOLIC,APOSTOLIC. Jesus Christ said to his disciples there will be division. Contact your priest and if you have cable or satellite watch EWTN network. Also use the Catholic Answers website on top of the page as there is so much information about what happened.

Unless you can prove with reliable links that each and every non-Catholic denomination, website, preacher, broadcast and publication Always Bashes Catholics, this is an unfair question, and the title of the thread also does not match the question posed in the thread.

If you have a question on the history of the Protestant Reformation and the establishment of various non-Catholic denominations that split off from the Catholic Church, it would be best to pose your question about that denomination in the non-Catholic religions forum.

If you challenge a specific statement or writing or teaching of a specific denomination, religious leader or theologian, it would be much more helpful to pose that question, with a reliable source for the contended statement, in the appropriate forum.

The question as it stands is a “Why do you always beat your wife” type question and not really helful for any meaningful discussion.

Welcome to the forums and us old-timers hope you have the best possible experience here. Spending a little time browsing the forums, checking out on-going and past discussions in areas that interest you, and learning to navigate, will make this one of your favorite sites.

Oh there’s plenty of Catholics who disrespect other Religions, Denominations, etc. These
are the ones that are mind fixed with the “outside of the Catholic Church there is no salvation”. I respect all and try to engage in serious dialogue to inform them and prove, through scripture, that the Catholic Church is the One True Church founded by Our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I will not argue, though, for arguments are futile and turn one against the truth. If the one I am communicating with has an open mind and is led by the
Holy Spirit, he will listen and continue until he recognizes the truth. It can be a slow arduas process, or an immediate one. We Catholics ( those that don’t do any bashing )
consider all those out side of the Church our separated brethren and try to bring all home.
Meanwhile, I praise the Lord that you came home. God Bless.

Always? Are you sure that is what you meant to say?
Stick around here for awhile and take an honest look…

For some Protestants it is part of their doctrines that Catholicism is wrong, even anti-Christain and the Whore of Babylon thing. They have to stand on this for them to justify their existence. Having said that there are Protestants who are quite close to Catholicism in belief and doctrine, and these are the ‘friendly’ Protestants, some are posters here.

We also consider Protestants as not having the complete faith, and in all fairness, we can understand how they feel about it. So it work both ways.

Perhaps your concerns is about those Protestants who think that we are not Christains and that the Pope as the anti-Christ, et al.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

God bless you.

You must be a newbie here.

Well I’ve been told in another thread that my church is a brothel.🙂

The all time winner since I have been hear was a thread in the Traditional Catholic forum titles (about like) “The closer I get to the church the more I despise Protestants”.

I was hunting for this thread, but I see it has been removed.

Runner up was a recent thread “How come there is no holiness in Protestant churches”

Third place was a comment that “Protestants just go through the motions with their worship”

I went to report this thread, but that comment was posted by a moderator. Talk about the fox guarding the henhouse.

It is really quite funny sometime the Respect, tolerance, and virtue that the One True Church shows to all of the heretics here. It really makes me want to leave my heretical institution and join up with God’s favorite church.

dont worry about being bashed. we do this to protestants too. unfortunatlly we are all human. also as a former baptist myself i understand where your coming from. just thank God you were open enough to receive the truth. meditate on the mysteries of the rosary. utilize all of the good things the Church has to offer. but above all, serve serve serve. there is no shortage of things to volunteer for in the Catholic church. keep busy. also be prepared to lose some friends in your former fellowship. its hard but you are gaining brothers and sisters for life in the Catholic Church. you wont be able to convince anyone of the truths youve learned since they are not of human origin. you took a huge step my friend. one that will cost you, but the price is worth it. the anger you feel will fade. just stay open to the teachings of the church and be glad you escaped the sea of opinions called protestantism and found the truth. God bless you and yours.:aok:

Let’s not forget the current Protestant=heretic thread.

What is Catholocism?😃

I am, in a strange kind of way, thankful that there was anti-Catholicism out there. Had there not been who knows what would have caused me to look into the claims of the Church, study them and then ultimately convert. I guess it is all in how you look at it.

God bless you

You can’t have read these threads then 🙂 - they overflow with Catholic attacks on Protestantism & Protestants.

FWIW, non-Catholic Churches don’t all attack Catholicism, and even those that do, by no means attack it all the time.

THis thread is fairly typical forums.catholic-questions.org/showthread.php?p=5860897

Amazing you can see that distinction but you cannot make any distinctions like it with this forum. You make it sound as thought it’s non-stop anti-non-Catholic.

Most of the questions I see question certain doctrines or tenants of beliefs, not people. Am I seeing a different picture than you are?
