So you dont want honest discourse?
When I read your post I saw your opinion. I don’t agree with you but I think I understand how your opinion has formed and your legitimate concerns over the possibility of idolatry, of which no Christian can approve. In the interest of discourse I do not have a problem with your expressing that.

Muzzling a poster will not change that poster’s opinion, and honest communication is important for dialog. So I am with you on this point, you should be able to state what you think so long as it is your honest opinion and not intended as an insult.

Of course, I don’t run this place, I can only speak for myself 🤷

To be perfectly clear, I am not a Roman Catholic. Still, I think that if you came to my church you would probably be greatly appalled, but that’s just how it is. 😃 Get a load of this:

There are many answers to that question. Some leave Catholicism out of intellectual laziness (some, I might add, embrace it for the same reason); some leave it because other pastures look greener or easier to deal with; some leave it because of the faults of Catholics themselves, not least the priests involved in the abuse scandals; some leave it because they find another faith truer to humanity’s striving towards the divine; and some leave it because they have no faith at all. And that’s only a few of the possible reasons, although I think they’re the most common. I myself fall into the last category.
I left the Church for 27 years and when I returned and got to know my faith a little better I realised that I had not been properly instructed and that is when I began to learn more about the Faith.

For you it is different and I am sure you are young and seduced by the secular world and I can understand your agnosticism.

I hope that will change. My husband was like you - he was baptised at age 24 to get married and only converted when he was 73!! I hope that does not happen to you because the sooner you come to understand the Faith the sooner you will increase the quality of your happiness and life.

🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

I guess Paul had a difficult relationship that he had not worked out sufficienty.
We do not need you to guess. We know as Catholocs paul did not have a difficult relationship, he had a quite simple one actually. He made his choice and was quite confortable with it. He choose to give his life completely to Our Lord and Savoir, he dedicated his whole self to Christ the same way the the RCC Priests and Popes and Bishops do today. Why do you have such a problem with that. The priests are called to do what God asked them and they answer. Why must you persecute them for that, instead of admire them for accepting the call from God?

I don’t agree that it is better. If that is so, then we all should aim to be single and celibate and thus violate the Catholic belief that we are to “go forth and multiple” which is the reason that Catholics aren’t supposed to use contraception. Course most do, but that is another question entirely.
That is not the teaching of the Catholic Church. And yes some are called to be married and have some children, some are not. Is brith control what your Church teaches? Where does the bible say that we should use brith control? Could you show me where having and loving children in a marriage goes against the teachings of Christ.

I left the church because, after a lot of consideration:
  1. I couldn’t get over the OT idea that God is One and the way that differs from the NT idea that God is three.
  2. I feel that only God can forgive our sins and that we don’t need an intermediary (i.e. Jesus or a confessor)
3)I find it impossible to believe in transubstantiation.
4)I believe in sterilization as birth control.
🤷/QUOT

You are not alone in not accepting the teachings of Christ. Especially Jesus being the Father, son and Holy Spirit. Jesus was killed for it. Again It was Jesus who gave his Apostles the power to forgive sin, the same way he had the power. If you do not mind me asking is sterilization all that you believe in? Thats all that you stated that you do believe in, just wondering?

Yes actually honest discourse would be great. Now you say we have graven images in our Church. Which is of course is false gods do you not agree. Now you accused the RCC as having these. Now I have asked you once, and I will ask you again. Are you saying that a STatue of Jesus Christ and The Blessed Mother are false gods? You have not answered my question. Either you are saying that indeed they are. or you have lied about our Church. Which one is it?

I am saying they are graven images.

I am not appalled and am aware of icon worship in Orthodox Churches.
Worship God and HIm alone.

Okay then you are saying that Jesus who is hanging on the cross did not come from God but from man. You are saying that when we have a statue of Jesus Christ he did not come from God he came from the imagination of Man. Is that what you are saying?

Also are you saying that a statue of Jesus Christ is not a symbol and reminder or our Lord Jesus Christ, that we replaced him with a statue. Is that indeed what you are saying? That we do not believe and worship the living Christ we have replaced him with a statue?

All Glory to Jesus Christ!
Michael, I attended a Byzantine Rite Mass last spring and it was magnificent. I loved every second of how this Mass reflected such a deep love and devotion for Our Lord. I loved watching the priests pray at and around the altar in preparation before Mass. I loved the singing of the Scripture. I loved Communion and singing Blessings for everyone in this life and in the afterlife after reception of Communion. We must have sung these blessings for 20 minutes. I cried with joy and thanksgiving in this most beautiful expression of love that I have ever witnessed or have participated in.
I passionately recommend every Christian to attend a Sunday Byzantine Rite Mass. If you do not feel the beauty and love of worship for Our Lord in this Mass then I feel sad for you.

This guy is an obvious Troll. He did not come here to learn anything or to have a serious discussion. He ignores any answer that has been provided for serious theological issues that any protestant should meditate upon.

He is here to attack God’s church, and the faithful. Put them down and tempt. And that makes him Satan’s little helper.

It is not hard to spot Satan at work. And it is my Lenten promise to call out Satan where ever I see him :D.

Good for you. Keep up the good work:D And you are correct if you want to learn why we do what we do, we will be glad to explain to anyone. But do not attack our church with lies, that is not fair, nor Christian like. Our Church should and will be defended!👍

So you are telling me that when I stand in front of a cross and meditate about Jesus’ suffering on it, I am worshiping a graven image? Get a life seriously. Satan’s little minion.
LOL
You claim to want a serious discussion yet you do not listen to a thing I say to try to understand my point of view.
I say if you kneel before a statue (which is a form of worship) kiss the statue, follow that statue around in a procession you are not following Christ but another.

Oh no, we do hear you, and we do understand what you are saying, quite clear actually. You are saying that if we stand in front of a statue and kneel before it, we are replacing that Statue with our Lord Jesus CHrist, are you not? And we are saying that is a complete lie. We know that a Statue of our Lord has not replaced our Lord. That Statue is a reminder of our Lord. When we kneel no matter where it is, it is to one Person Our Lord Jesus Christ.

If I go outside and look up into the heaven, and fall to my knees, I do not worship the sky, I know and Jesus Christ knows I worship him, and him alone. It is you who accuse us of these things. Do you not?

I do not attack with lies but with truth.
