Unfortunately, it seems it be indicative of the times and conditions of the Church that we live in nowadays; of widespread misunderstanding and bias that continue unchecked; of a certain refusal or cowardice toward confronting “difficult” issues in the public forum.

The Church in the U.S. today is in practical schism. Points of difference have become keenly delineated with respect to liturgical practice (with differences in practice corresponding to differences in the way people come to fundamentally believe). “Traditionalists” (more often than not a derisive term) are in the minority and have become “sport” for the popular majority.

Not infrequently, defending my “traditionalist” position to a fellow Catholic seems little different from defending my Catholic position to an avowed Protestant.

Traditionalists are not always the easiest people to get along with either, I’ve heard them say that other spiritualities are of the devil:(

J_A,
Your observation is correct. So, in all fairness, the knife cuts both ways.

But I would also ask you: have you ever gotten to really know a traditionalist? Getting to know and getting along go hand in hand. : )

Every traditionalist that I have met, talked with at length and gotten to know has proven to be an honest, warm and loving soul.

Cordially,
PAB

I have no doubt, Im listening to the podcast about the octave of Pentecost now.

Religions with a multitude of gods are vectors for demonic oppression. In my more cynical moments it amuses me to think it would be interesting to banish people who are interested in non-Catholic ‘spiritualities’ to countries or areas where they are dominant.

I have the idea that Christian countries have a different psychic atmosphere.

I was refering to other Catholic spiritualities, such as the Charismatic one for example:cool:
