Why there are so many atheists who reject faith and what reasons are to that? Why someone refuses to believe, even evidence leads him to faith?

You would have to ask an atheist. However being one myself for many years I think there is a fear of change. A fear that if they believe in God they have to choose a faith and then lead some pious life. The answers they use for not believing are almost always the same. There isn’t any evidence or the bible is archaic and inconsistent. Often the focus is more on the religion than understanding the Being. They use natural disasters and human suffering as a reason. They can be idealistic and feel if God existed life should be perfect. They apply human standards as a form of reasoning. They might say something like, “If I were God I would have done it like this…” Of course if they had the ability to create this universe I’m sure they would see it much differently. lol Some do seem to go out of their way not to allow themselves any faith because they are angry at God but often they do not take responsibilities for their own actions. And maybe some just do not see the purpose for believing.

Why did Saul (Saint Paul) have to be struck to the ground and addressed directly by Jesus before he would believe? He was a brilliant man. He had great reasoning power. He wasn’t an evil man. He was a pious man in the Jewish faith. He thought he was doing good in persecuting the Church. It’s a mystery.

Hi Pax,

There are multiple reasons why they chose no to believe in God
  1. They don’t want to make someone dictated their lives especially their personal decisions.
  2. They saw on the media how religion makes the world so dangerous fighting each other’s faith through war.
  3. Religion can harm couples especially when they were in different sects that can cause separation.
  4. Religion can cause them unwanted arguments through ideological differences
5.The God they knew must need to be seen through a intensive and concrete evidences.

Because faith is a choice. God always wanted it this way. For us who know the joy of knowing God it seems incomprehensible than anyone would choose anything but that joy. but for others the possibility of an all powerful being is not a welcome thought. Even with grace.

A Catholic myself, I see the question that people ask as a little illogical…tFor many unbelievers it not all those reasons already stated. 🙂 It’s actually thinking inside the bubble to say all unbelievers are rejecting faith as a reality. 😉

Sometimes unbelievers simply honestly can’t believe.
It’s not a matter of 'rejecting faith’, it’s just believing it’s untrue.

Know enough about this world and the lives of others, and it can be hard-to-impossible for some people to believe in a loving God.

Call out to God often enough without any answer, and it can be almost impossible for some people to believe in a loving God who cares about people.

Put enough pressure, heartbreak and difficulty on some people, and faith becomes, for them, unrealistic, because while they may receive carefully worded theology or even spiritual platitudes which even may be true, yet have no power over the desperate depths of their sorrow and predicament.

Other intellectual questions, to critical minds not swayed by emotion or clinging to a belief system, can also make belief in a (loving) God seem untenable. In that case also it is not a matter of ‘rejecting faith’ but finding faith to be superstition and deception.

While the reasons given apply for some, honesty dictates a mention of these other circumstances.

God bless!
