A majority of evangelicals that I know like to deny anything that supports the Catholic position . The Papacy , Eucharist, Confession ,etc… But every time they try to disprove it , they fall on their face.
Then since Jesus says if someone eats His flesh and drinks His blood he has eternal life, He must not be speaking literally in some part of the statement. Otherwise anyone who did would be saved.
Not true; is not correct to equate “you will be saved” to “this is the only thing you will ever need to be saved”. Jesus says that partaking in that act will save one; He doesn’t say that partaking in that act is the ONLY thing that saves one. Salvation is a continual process that requires many different things. In the same way, Catholics believe that we need faith to be saved and we need works to be saved, but ONLY faith will not save us and ONLY works will not save us. “You will be saved” indicates that something is an integral part of the process of salvation, not that it is the one and only path to salvation. You won’t find that word “only” there because that’s not how it works.
Again, there is no symbolic language anywhere in John 6, the gospel accounts of the Last Supper, or in 1 Corinthinans dealing with the Eucharist.
