Why do people think we worship the pope?

Call me ignorant. I had no idea such vile was printed. It all goes back to the saying. “The wolf does not attack the false sheep.” Brothers and Sisters, let us pray all the more earnestly for those who believe this and spread such hate for the Mystical Body of Christ. The only prayer that comes to my mind is the Chaplet of Divine Mercy.

i hear this alot. iam tired of hearing it, but i charitably point out that Catholic’s do not worship the pope, neither do we worship Mary. Its a misconception that others have that we worship the pope. The pope is the head of the church and Christ’s Vicar on earth. where do people get these assumptions?

we are called statue worshippers, Marian worshippers, we do some kind of worship to the pope, and so on and on and on.

let me clarify a few things for some non believers. Catholic’s do not worship the pope. he is the head of the church, and he is the successor of Peter, but by no means to we worship him.

We do not woship Mary, or statues of her. this has been said a great deal in these forums. We love and respect Mary and honor her, but by no means do we worship her.

Now, when it comes to the pope, we respect him, and we listen to him, but we do not bow down and worship him.

Catholics DO “worship” the Pope, but under the sense of dictionary.com’s third definition:
3. adoring reverence or regard
Anyone who see the throngs who crowd together to get a glimpse of the Holy Father knows that we reverently adore (worship) our Pope. It’s not the same type of worship that we reserve to God alone.

I was sitting and eating lunch with friends. And the conversation sort of blew gradually toward the religious side. A man very suddenly comes up with his comment, out of the blue, that his contention is that the black people were the ones who were marked in the Old Testament.

And I promptly said in a very easy and nice way that it all depended on which side of the fence a person was on. For if we were black, then maybe it would be whitety who was marked.

Anyway, again out of nowhere, he makes the remark that there were people who kissed the ring of the Pope, and with a strain in his face, he then said, I would never kiss the ring of that man(with anger in his eyes). And further who can respect a man who dresses in long dress like a woman.

When he said the latter, I had my head turned to someone else and was talking to them and missed the comment. I was told what he said later by my wife.

Now to me it is obvious he was more into it than just a simple bias. There was a bit of hate. And I’m glad I missed his comment, because to have said anything further would have just stirred up the pot and ruined everyone’s lunch.

Then in addition, there was another very nice lady who was talking to my wife and in their conversation it came out that she didn’t know that Catholics believed in Jesus. She didn’t know what Catholics believed. But she was in no way anti-Catholic, she just didn’t know.

And believe it or not, I never had a clue that this would ever happen.

We don’t?😃

The Seven Sacraments of the “anti-Catholic” communion:
  1. ignorance,
  2. “passion,”
  3. misinformed judgment,
  4. well-meaning, but misguided intent,
  5. anti-Catholic hate,
  6. former Catholic discontent, and
  7. refusal to face the facts
Not meant to offend, just point out my observations

Prayers and petitions,

:clapping:

I have to confess I was guilty of some of the above as an atheist.
