Can someone please answer this question? Why should we want to live longer if heaven is so much better? Thanks

I hope you’re alright. You’re making me a little nervous. Feel free to message me if you want to talk.
As far as your question goes. I asked myself that once, and I’ve heard other ask it to. I once felt like I didn’t even care if there was a heaven or a hell, whatever lay beyond this world had to be better than what I was experiencing. But I was blessed.
I won’t go into the details of what happened, personal revelations are not allowed on this board. But I will say God made it clear to me He wanted me to live. He had wanted me to live and to be happy and find peace by fulfilling my purpose in this world from the start, I just couldn’t hear it before.
He want the same for you, for us all. He put us on this earth for His own reasons, what those reasons are? Who knows. But I’ve always been of the philosophy that if my destiny was planned out by God, then it must be something good.

How else could you know the Lord if you weren’t given the gift of life? Jesus died so that you might have life.
God wants us to get to know Him, love Him and serve Him in this world so that we can live on with HIM in the next world.

Heaven is not a guarantee.
Every moment we are alive here we can help either ourselves or others be more ready for Heaven.
At the very least, even if we fail in every possible way and are in the most miserable of states, God still loves us. We are still capable of offering a prayer up for God for the benefit of others as well as ourselves each and every second we are alive so we are never true failures no matter how much we screw up.
Once we die we are at the mercy of God and will be judged on how we lived our lives and the longer we live the more opportunites are provided by God both to continue helping others and for our own redemption and salvation.
So why not take advantage of each and every moment God gives us.

Because it is God’s Will… that we live and complete… the life He planned for each of us. Living our lives on earth, provides us with endless opportunities to love and serve God… through loving and serving one another.
And because during our lives… we are given opportunities to share in the sufferings of our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. With those sufferings, through patient endurance… we cultivate virtue; which is very important, if we want to be with God in Heaven one day.

As one reply has already stated, in some sense it’s up to God to decide how long any of us can live. A person who is suffering may look forward to death and heaven, but at the same time he or she can offer up the suffering as penance for himself or herself as well as for others.

It’s a journey and not a destination. God has a purpose for everyone, and that purpose is here in this world first. We must live out that purpose and accept what God has for us here. If we are faithful the heaven part will come in due time.

Life is a test. We’re here to prove our worth, to learn how to live with others, to iron out our weaknesses, and to help each other as best we can.
Plus God wants us to appreciate His creation, the beauty, the joys, etc. how can we appreciate the wonders of Heaven if we can not enjoy the simple joys and pleasures of this life ?
When you see the innocence of a little baby, it’s smile and interaction with you, doesn’t that feel like Heaven on earth ??
