Perhaps priests wear black for the same reason many of us ladies wear it - it’s slimming
Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam.
I believe it is part of his signature; the latin and translationI have a catapult. Give me all your money, or I will fling an enormous rock at your head…
Now, I wonder where you get the idea that clergy wear black. Around here they wear pastel polo shirts and khakis, etc.
Really?? Then that just makes it weirder when Protestant ministers wear it, doesn’t it? :ehh:Priests wear Black to sigify death to the world. The White Collar is a sign of fidelity to the Pope and that is why it is called the Roman collar.

That thought had occured to me, but in the interests of the fact that by baptism we are all Christian regardless of denomination, I declined to comment, but seeing as you have, then why do Protestant ministers wear this? Possibly a Protestant brother or sister can explain this to me, is it because there is still valid succession in orders in Protestantism, some Anglican/Protestant Priests when they convert to Catholicism do not need to renew their Holy Orders.Really?? Thank you also for your answer.
What does the below piece taken from your post mean or refer to?

Protestant ministers who convert to the Catholic Faith must still receive valid orders to become Catholic priests. There are a handful of groups other than the Orthodox who have valid orders (Old Catholics under the bishop of Utrecht, for example), but Anglicans and “Protestants” roughly conceived do not have valid Holy Orders.Possibly a Protestant brother or sister can explain this to me, is it because there is still valid succession in orders in Protestantism, some Anglican/Protestant Priests when they convert to Catholicism do not need to renew their Holy Orders.

If you like. But these are pious explainations attached to the dress long after it become standard and customary.Priests wear Black to sigify death to the world. The White Collar is a sign of fidelity to the Pope and that is why it is called the Roman collar.
